    Fixed it!!!!

I simply unplugged the GTX280. Ran it all again on the 8400GS alone and it installed. I will then inject the correct info for the GTX280 once it's all installed, to get the full GFX acceleration. I guess I was lucky in that I had a card that would work alone.

Incidentally, I tried just installing with the GTX280 alone and that wouldn't work (even with the graphicsenabler at 1).

Not sure that helps, but at least you know it's most likely to be gfx related!

    Hi,

I know this post is from more than 2 years ago, but I have to try. I am experimenting the same problem. Well, I don't understand all the terms you used there, but if I was to explain it it would be the same way Brynjaminjones did in the post ''http://www.hackint0sh.org/installation-213/stuck-black-screen-during-snow-leopard-install-138962.htm'' :

    ''Hi,
I have bought a Snow Leopard retail disc, and have been trying to install it on my system. After trying various boot discs, I eventually found one from a few months ago which worked (I can't remember what it's called, but it doesn't seem to be related to my problem!). I load up the SL disc, and the spinning pinwheel appears.
After spinning for about a minute, with constant DVD-drive activity, my screen then goes onto standby, showing that it is receiving no signal from my computer. For about two minutes of this black screen, the DVD-drive stays active, until it eventually dies down. After dying down, it spins up again if I press any button on the keyboard, then dies down again after a few seconds. I can do this repeatedly, but nothing ever seems to happen. I also can't eject the drive. I've tried starting from the beginning again, but the same happened again.

I forgot to mention that it basically looks like the screen is going black at the point where the installation screen should appear, and that the DVD drive spinning up when I press the keyboard is simply the installation screen responding to my commands; but why can't I see it?!''

I understand that the problem is the graphic card. But I'm on a Macbook Pro, and if there is a way to unplug it as Jonboyuk did, well I have no clue on how to do it. Would someone be kind enough to give me a little bit of help with that? I really have no money to pay for a repair...

You exeprincing the same problem on retail apple hardware? What kind of Macbook Pro is that? I only saw such stuff on Macs too new to run old OS versions.
