Black/Blank Screen After Installation
Greetings,
I'm trying to set up a system and after enough work I finally got the thing installed. However, after the reboot I get a blank screen after the grey Apple logo screen. The system doesn't appear to be frozen, just no video. I've done some research to suggest it's my video card (GeForce GTX 260), and its lack of drivers, though all that was nearly or over a year ago without any solutions.
The only suggestion I found was to delete the GeForce drivers from the hard drive so it will boot using VESA graphics, but that didn't work.
My (hopefully) relevant specs are below, I hope someone can help. Thanks!
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz
Mobo: Asus P5QL-EM Intel G43 (SATA in ACHI mode)
Video: Diamond Sapphire GeForce GTX 260 896MB (192 core, I believe)
Installation source: (TPB) cclloyd's "Mac OS X 10.6.2 Patched for PC UNIVERSAL" from a USB Flash drive.

Hi there,
I thought that you could use a NV injection to get your graphic card working properly. There seem to be a thread for gtx 2xx cards. Mine is 8400 GS and when installed there was NO NV graphic driver selected except for the injection: ATY_init, and not only it picked up the correct graphic card, it also got my display ID and resolution correctly.
You could try to delete everything related to NV there but the above mentioned file or reload from your installation media.
If it is still no go then I will try to locate the link for you.
Regards,

I got past this problem by changing distros and using Snow_Leopard_10.6.1-10.6.2_SSE2_SSE3_Intel_AMD_by_Hazard. Looks like it has various nVidia drivers and Mac OS X successfully boots into the OS for the first time. However now I can't get past the "Do You Alread Own a Mac" previous configuration import screen, so I'm going to post a new topic regarding that.

hi there, i bumped to the same problem with that user account setup screen..
that was because the network device detection process..
anyway , try this:
boot with option "Graphics Modes"="680x480x32" (low res) so it cant load the setup gui, but you can login as admin and customize account with preference tool. and fix the network setting.
