Asrock P55 Pro + i5 750 + GTS250 Successful 10.6.2 Install
Sweet baby jesus, I finally got it. After almost giving up hope and ending the day in frustration, I tried a whole new combination of variations to get my setup to work. And surprisingly enough, I found some luck.
First let me just state that I used the Hazard 10.6 release (10.6.1 - 10.6.2 combo included).
Step 1: Used my Macbook Pro with Firewire SATA case to install Hazard 10.6 on the target drive. (I may partition this drive into separate spaces to test future distros, but just happy to find a solution at the moment.)
Step 2: Installed 10.6.2 Combo Update to drive.
Step 3: Installed Kakewalkbootloader (link) to target drive, selected option to load with MSI P55M-GD45 config (this was a random selection btw, I haven't read about this solution for my config anywhere on the major hackintosh forums.)
Step 4: Rebooted into working Mac OS X 10.6.2
And from then I've been gold. I've been up for about 20 minutes with nothing fishy except for a startupfile error after an update, but I think that might be OSX bug/security related; no crashes or odd visual shiznat.
Only issues at the moment are no sound, but I have a SB Live that I'm going to install because of the Bay amp and the type of headphones I use (Sennheisers HD595's), and my memory isn't working at 1600mhz. But I'll figure those out.
1. Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80605I5750
2. ASRock P55 Pro LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard
3. BFG Tech BFGEGTS2501024DE GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
4. G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
5. Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
6. BFG Tech GS-550 550W ATX12V V2.2 / EPS12V V2.8 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Power Supply
7. Sony Optiarc 24X DVD/CD Rewritable Drive Black SATA Model AD-7240S-0B - OEM
Software Solution that worked:
1. Snow Leopard 10.6.1-10.6.2 Intel AMD made by Hazard
2. Kakewalk: Minimal effort install - MSI P55M-GD45 Board Selected for configuration
1. Booted into Mac OS X 10.6.2
2. Video Fully working
3. No audio
4. Memory Running at 1338mhz (should be running at 1600).
Thanks for all the help. I'll post this as a thread here, and on a bunch of other forums.
Hi there! I have the same config as you have, and i get kernel panic. What bios settings do you have?
help please! from anyone who sees this. any idea of how to make it work?
anyone else managed to install snow leopard (or leopard) on an asrock p55?
Kernel panic eh, damn. Same config? Asrock P55 Pro? Using the MSI P55M-GD45 configuration?
What are the steps are using to set this up? Are you using Snow Leopard 10.6.2?
List your entire config as well, including everything.
i burned Snow Leopard 10.6.1-10.6.2 Intel AMD made by Hazard on a dvd and after booting the dvd i pressed F8 and wrote "cpus=1 busratio=20 -v" and in this way i managed to avoid kernel panic. macosx installer started, selected the drive and after 30-40% of installation it stops installing (not frozen, because i can move the mouse scroll). I tried making another copy of the dvd and i have the same problem. Any idea? Oh, and I can't eject the dvd unless I turn off my pc It is dead after this
and my config is same as yours: asrock p55 pro, i5 750, gts 250
ASrock P55 Pro i5 750 Lynnfield GTS250 kenel panic on booting
I got the same config as you guys (Asrock P55 Pro, i5 750 Lynnfield, GTS250, 4GB Ram)
the "cpus=1 busratio=20" brought me further with the iAtkos v7 and Hazard osx versions. I managed to install it to a 1TB drive but after the restart even cpus=1 busratio=20 did not work (the PC restarted automatically during boot process, very quickly after it started booting).
My original Snow Leopard update DVD does not boot at all (same options used as above with Generic.iso, iboot supported, iBoot NVIDIA and 123boot boot cds). It gets a kernel panic.
Does anyone have the same problems? What are your Bios settings?
