Advice/Help for a Newb to Macs
First off i would like to appologize since im sure this is a common post for help...
Want to turn this HP HDX-9010NR Laptop or desktop in seperate post into a Hackintosh...
I'm a PC guy and i have never used a Mac and i do not have access to one. I only need a Mac to use pwnage tool to make a custom firmware of 3.2 with baseband 4.28 with no hackivation. i do not want to download one and risk updating my baseband. My 3GS is at 3.0.1 now with baseband 4.28. It was jailbroken with a different sim card that im using now. It worked perfect with the sim card i jailbroke it with. When i switched back to ATT and tried to use their sim card, it will txt just fine but will not accept calls and gets hotter than a mofo... So im stuck using my 2g iphone that is slow to say the least. i have all the shsh saved on saurik's server. anyway back to the hackintosh situation...
I put an add on craigslist to trade this PC for a Macbook but i hanvt got any good offers yet and thats why im wondering if it would be possible to turn this laptop that i never use into a hackintosh. I would mainly just want to use it to keep my iphone firmware up to date. jb'n and unlocked of course. And i guess you could say that i have always been curious what all the Mac fuss has been about...

I dont mind purchasing the Snow Leopard disk for what 30 bux if thats what i need to do. I dont have a 8gb flash drive, i do however have plenty of spare sata hard drives if i could use them instead of the flash drive. I just started reading stuff but i wanted to make a post and get some help along the way to see if this would even be possible with said hardware. Again, i do not have access to a Mac.
Thank you in Advance and sorry for a newb post as im sure this is prolly a repeat...

If it would be easier on something more current, i could try it on my desktop with a different hard drive.
Current setup is:
i7 920 @ 4.0
eVGA 760 Classified
12gb Corsair Domminator GT
2x eVGA GTX295's Quad SLI
2x Intel X25-E SSD's RAID 0
2x WD Raptor's RAID 1
Creative X-FI Titanium Fatil!ty pci-x
Enermax 1050w Revolution P/S
I have a spare maxtor diamondmax plus 9 250gb sata hd if that would work to put snow leopard on my desktop.
Anyway looking foward to the help and thx in advance...
hi there, welcome to the scene..
since you dont have access to a mac, i suggest you download a distro (a distribution dvd image ) which is a hacked osx installation dvd image.
you can google : "osx86 hazard ideneb iatkos ".
burn the image on dvd, boot your pc with it, follow the intsruction there..
Thank you for the reply and what is the current version that i need to look for? 10.5.4?
downloading snow leopard 10.6.1-10.6.2 sse2 sse3 intel amd by hazard.rar
hope this is it...
Everything installed correctly but when it rebooted, it just said the darwin thing for quite some time and then went to a black screen. I assume its not suppost to do this I took out the disk and now when it boots its just a black screen with the cursor in the upper left hand screen...
hmmm where to start...
Edit: I originally formatted the hd with Mac OS Extended Jourlned. I'm currently reformatting to Mac OS Extended and going to reinstall to see if that helps. Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated as i dont know what the difference is between the 2 formats and if it even makes a difference. Its a 120gb hard drive that i partitioned 40gb for the OSX.

you are close...
the partition should be Mac os ext journaled,
you should choose the second chameleon bootloader /w pci v10.5
anyway, when darwin countdown, press f8 and type: -x32 -f -v
see what it says..

how do you choose the second boot loader>?
I'm also in the process of making a more detailed post about the install to help others later with the same pc as mine here: http://www.hackint0sh.org/newthread....stthread&f=213
I have some error codes there that i am now encountering. But i also did not use the journal, or did i this time?.. hmm
when i tried that command i dont know what im looking for. Heres a screenshot of it
