    Default 10.6.7 / HP dv7-4295us - Install / iboot issues.

    Team--
A buddy of mine has a laptop he's trying to hackint0sh (HP dv7-4295us) with the following specs:

    i7 Sandy Bridge 2360QM
    8GB RAM
    ATI Radeon Mobility HD6570 1GB
    1TB HDD
    Blu-ray Drive
    IDT Audio
    Intel Wifi Link 1000

He is attempting to install and run off an unmodified kernel using bridgehelper, but can't seem to boot without iboot, so the kernel and smbios from iboot loads instead of his. He loaded from a retail 10.6 disc with the 10.6.7 combo update, and dumped acpi, lspci, and audio codecs from ubuntu.

Anyone here have success with this laptop or hardware or have any suggestions to try? I'm going to send this link his way so he may join to provide more info, but if there are any questions that would help, let me know and I'll find out.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks man, I appreciate the assistance. This is my second hackintosh and it's proven to give me some trouble. Any help anyone can offer would be much appreciated!

So far the only thing that works properly is my keyboard and bluetooth. I have mouse, but no clicking....It's a synaptics touchpad, tried a couple of different kexts with no luck. No display support....tried patching hex/plists with no luck. I haven't seen any support for the wifilink 1000 wireless, but that's the least of my worries right now. Idt audio is a no go. I'm kinda burnt after a few weeks of very little progress.

Anyone have any recommendations with where to start for the kexts on this? I've spent a good amount of time doing hackintosh work on the Kalyway and other modified kernels, but have never had much success with the unmodded kernels, so I'm a little out of my element. Has anyone here ever attempted to do this with this model laptop or at least with similar hardware? Any tips or pointers as far as what you had tried that worked and what didn't?

    HP dv6t-4000 Quad Edition
    | InsydeH2O BIOS version F.0A Rev 3.5
    | Intel "Sandy Bridge" Chipset HM65
    | 2nd Gen. Core i7-2720QM 2.2GHz
    | ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6570 (aka 57xx, ID:68c0)
    | 15.6" 1366 x 768 display w/ HP TouchSmart
    | Backlit Keyboard w/ Fingerprint Reader
    | 6GB DDR3 RAM
    | Atheros AR9285 (swapped from original intel Wifi card)
    | 750GB 5400 HD
    | Win7 x64 (I want 10.6.x or dual boot with Windows if possible)

    what i have been doing:
iboot legacy works flawlessly installing and booting even with 10.6.7
trying to boot without it after installing multibeast with ati kexts, i get blank screen.
so i need to use GraphicsEnabler=No

what works after installing 10.6.7 with iboot legacy, and not working
    | built-in keyboard & trackpad
    | all usb ports (i don't know if usb 3.0 is working because i don't own any usb 3.0 devices)
    | touch screen is recognized but only as a left click from a mouse (not too important)
    | wifi works with kext from kexts.com
    | sound control works but no sound
    | having to use GraphicsEnabler=No, ATI is not working,

    other notes
i have a successfully compiled dsdt that contains no errors and other than fixing the errors it is not patched. do not know where to go from there
i have a rom for my ati card
i need to figure out what ati framebuffer to use (i have gone through a few in both PCIRootUID=0 and with 1)

edit: some fellow tonymacx86 users had luck with some newer models of dv6t, the ones with switchable graphics ati and intel hd3000
and in that, they do not use the ati graphics at all and only use the intel graphics
follow the source link at the end to continue reading from the thread, i do not want to copy paste everything. it's a lot of info covered. just keep in mind again that this only works for users with switchable graphics, nothing like mine.

@ninditsu, your specs are identical to mine except that mine has the model number DV6-6011TX (Singapore Model).

I changed to plan-B, to get QE/CI working on Intel HD 3000 (which is built-in to the i7 processor). Reasons being that I have consoles for gaming and the Intel GPU saves battery

    Here is what is working:
    - Core i7 2630QM detected as 2.0 GHz Unknown Activity Monitor shows all cores and 4 are being used, not sure of hyper threading.
    - Intel HD 3000, detected with proper resolution 1366x768x32 with 3D effects, screen brightness controls working
    - 4GB RAM detected as 800 MHz DDR2 but seems OK.
    - USB 2.0 working fine, 3.0 ports crash and lock the system, not a big deal for now
    - Keyboard and touchpad working fine
    - Using USB WiFi dongle, my laptop has a RALink 5390 PCIe/m card and RALink is probably the only company giving official Mac drivers so they might be coming soon
    - Battery icon showing up in tray and working as expected
    - Bluetooth working and toggles using keyboard
    - Just installed SleepEnabler kexts not tested, also installed smart sleep for hibernate to disk, also need to test
    - Volume keys show change in volume but there is no change and need to use preference pane VoodooHDA for volume control.

    Here is what I did:

    - iBoot Legacy + SL 10.6.3 retail installation
    - iBoot Legacy again for booting first time
    - 10.6.7 (universal) update
    - BridgeHelper 2.1
    - MultiBeast (several tries with different settings, nothing worked)
    - Used /Extra folder from iBoot to setup /Extra on HDD
    - Overwrote kernel to use 10.7.0 Legacy
    - Installed IntelAppleHD.....kext files
    - Other kexts for touchpad, voodoobattery, voodooHDA, etc.
    - Kyle_C has a boot file for SandyBridge and Intel HD 3000

All in all took a night and a day and a lot of reading on different forums and blogs to get here.

Thanks to all who made this possible !!!

Now going to launch migration assistant and put my older Hackintosh for sale it served me well.

Any questions or anything that can help you are most welcome, its just I seem to be in a different timezone from most people here.

Very much appreciated -- we're going to spend some time hacking hard against this tonight and see what we can come up with. If we manage to make any progress, I'll post back here with success results, etc.

Thanks again for the info, it should prove to be quite invaluable!
