Is it worth?
Hello,
I'm a graphic designer, and I work with programs like Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects...
A year ago I switched from windows to mac, with a white macbook, and I'm very happy with it.
I wanna buy a new desktop computer, I don't have money for an iMac or Mac Pro, but I don't wanna get rid of OSX.
So, my question is:
Is it worth to buy a good generic computer and then install a hackint0sh?
I mean, I would have problems of compatibility, performance... in hardware and software?
Is it really like a mac, since mac has intel proccessors?
Thanks.

I think a good luck combo will do the job, check the hardware section to get a nice combo, you can install Retail Version to get the best installation and enjoy
or get a mac mini XD

Ahh, the questions that no Hackintosh enthusiest I've seen has been able to answer yet. I've been asking on various forums for the better part of a year, "Do Hakcs run Adobe CS and Final Cut Pro like an honest Mac?"
The only posts I've seen from other forums read something like
Guy #1: Photoshop runs really slow on my Hack build, what can I do?
Guy #2: It runs fine on mine.
-end of forum thread-
I'm saving to build a Hack. However, I'm assuming my Design and Video software won't work properly, forcing me to use the hardware as a Windows Machine.

Guy #1: Photoshop runs really slow on my Hack build, what can I do? <--- did you see the specs of this guy?
Photoshop in my case run faster, in windows takes a bit, well at least CS3, with CS4 I think is fast in both, but vista is already using 2GB of ram XD, about Final Cut, cant tell you... but with a Core 2 Duo with at least 4GB of ram you should be able to run those apps.
I tested on mine:
ArchiCAD
Adobe CS4 apps
Maya
And the basic, iWork, Adium, iTunes, etc
P.S. As you can see I had to MOD my BIOS, so this is not the best computer to use OSX...

And that's the problem. None of these guys post all the details of their system or install. Your post has been the most detailed I've read so far.
Questions I have, does Expose display each open image in Photoshop on a hack like a pure mac? Any issues with scratch disks? I'd love a detailed side by side performance review.
