    Default what to do when apple logo shows up (and stays up) after successful install of ideneb

    so, i have:
    Asus pq5 pro mobo
    intel e8400 core 2 @ 3.0 gHz
    maxtor 80gig
    3 gig 800 mHz RAM
    nVidia XFX 9800 GT

    Patched version of ideneb 10.5.5

    booted into ideneb istall, created a mac os journaled partition, not sure how i customized it, though. i really didn't know what to select. but it still installed fine, and prompted a boot. i booted, it loaded darwin fine, and got itself into the apple logo screen and stayed there over night.

    after creating partition and before starting installation, have you select kext driver for Intel ICHx chipsets ?

    Otherwise, you can try this option at boot : -v rd

    i updated the bios in that guide you gave me and leopard booted up fine. the only thing is that the machine doesn't boot down. the os shuts down, but the machine doesn't stop running.

    yeah sorry, lol i'm a bit scattered. this mac os rocks. especially that i'm on my pc. so, new problem... the "about this mac" thingy shows that i'm only running a 3.0 ghz rather than a core two. i saw somewhere that you need to remove a certain kext to increase performance? is that tue, should i be worried about this thing? and one more problem.... i tried to boot down with the "shut down" option in that apple drop down display, and the os shuts down, but not the pc itself.

    You forgot to tell me what distro did you install...are you on 10.5.6? to fix about this mac try this:

    How to fix unknown processor string in "About this Mac"

    go to System/Library/CoreServices/Resorces/English.lproj

    You will find a file "AppleSystemInfo.string" open it using TextMate and find "UnknownCPUKind" = "Unknown";
    replace unknown with the type of your processor for example, Intel® Core™2 Quad. make sure you change only letters only not the special characters like =, " or ;. Save it, it will ask for your permission, enter your password and you are all set, no need to reboot.
