I have the same laptop HP nc6120 I have tried the iPC, iDeneb, Leo4All even Zephyroth but I can't even reach the installation screen on each distro I have a different error message.
On the last that I have tried (iPC) I get a "mkdir() failed to create /Library/Logs with error: Read-only file system". and then the system freezes.

How you have managed to make the installation with the iPC? Did you changed anything from the Bios settings?

I have exactly the same laptop, so i decided to give it a go aswell.
I've set the installer the way you did and added a few more things. the speedstep kernel loader script failed and restarted the installation adding another 20 minutes to this nightmare. shame on me for experimenting, won't do it again.

This installing misery is really annoying. The components's description is not too informative, its very hard to decide between similar installable programs.

The non reverting installation itself is just tedious. One failure and you have to wait until the loader has fully reloaded the installer.

I'ld be very very thankful if you posted your final installation setup, not just the shortlist you have already done.

I am successfully install iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 on my nc6120. The keyboard and track pad is intermittently working. However, if I have the USB Mouse hook up, boot up then the keyboard and track pad is working great. LAN Ethernet is also not working. I am still look for the right driver. I believe the integrated LAN is BCM5705M with Dev 165E. It will be great if anyone know the working drive for this Ethernet. Wireless is working that because I have to hack the HP Bios whitelist and install another wireless card. I got it to boot up in less than 60 seconds most of the time. Here is my option:

    Kernels
    9.5.0 Voodoo Kernel
    Drivers
    Legacy Time Machine Fix
    video
    Laptop Display
    Intel GMA900
    Chipset Drivers
    LegacyAppleIntelPIIATA
    Audio Drivers
    AC97 Audio
    Wireless Drivers
    Broadcom Drivers
    USB Drivers - select all
    Power Management - select all
    Fixes and Patches
    ACPI Fix
    IOUSBMassStorage Fix
    IOPCIFamily.kext patched
    Finder 10.5.5 + Keyboard.prefPane
    Seatbelt.kext 10.5.5
    Shutdown / Restart Fix
    USB Mount Fix
PS/2 Device Support - select all
    DSDT Patches
    Patch DSDT
Applications - select all except Marvin's AMD Utility

Finally, I hope anyone can help me find the LAN driver. Thank you

you can try for the ethernet the Apple BCM 440x.

But how have you managed to go through the installation with the iPC mine it halts on mkdir() failed to create /Library/Logs with error Read-Only file system.

Did you changed anything on the bios? do you boot to the install with the defaults or you put any command?

Yes, I did try BCM 44XX but no success.

First I set/load bios with default setting, then enable multi-boot to boot from CD/DVD drive. Save the setting and start installing. Always install with fresh drive (erase, partition and format)

Thank you for the reply, but I am also trying to install on a new partition that I have made on my HD. On the first partition I have the winxp that came with the laptop and on the second I want to install Leopard, but with no luck.
