Prepare yourself, read some guides, about how to dualboot after installation, how to get keyboard and mouse support for laptop, google is your friend, good luck

I found iATKOS 5 to work best.. but you are going to have to do some research to get things working well... yes google is your friend

Currently running iPC on my Vostro 1510. Almost got everything working except proper powerdown.

Oh hey, I have a vostro 1500 with the same specs as yours and at one point I was triple booting with OS X, Vista, and Ubuntu.
It takes a bit of work but is entirely possible. I think I used iatkos.
I might want to do it again on the laptop since I just got a desktop.
