When I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 I opted for the Speedstep kernel because I thought it was the safe option. I ended up with a very stable system so I decided to update to 10.5.5 using the combo update. During the customise phase of the update I again played safe and installed the 9.4.0 StageXNU kernel which worked well and has done ever since.
Is it now safe to update to the Vanilla kernel using OSX86 Tools?
What would the advantage be of updating to this kernel? I'm almost sure that my hardware is Vanilla compatible (can anyone confirm this (see sig))?
If I do update will I be able to update to 10.5.6 via apple update?
If all goes wrong I do have Time Machine back-up's but due to many adverse comments regarding this method of back-up / restore can anyone recommend a third party back-up solution so I can restore if necessary.
Thanks for any help or advice.
