[TUT]How to install iPC(Mac OS X 10.5.6) On ASUS G50vt-X5
In this thread I will show you how to install iPC on an ASUS G50vt-X5.
Things you will need:
Sorry in advance admins if I am not supposed to post links to these things. I looked at the rules and it didn't say anything about it so... Just remove them if its not okay. That said. if the links do get removed just google around for these things. If you can't find the files you shouldn't be trying to install this. Also If you have windows already or some OS, find a way to get all your hardware written down... It will help.
iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 Final:
EasyBCD, google it. Then install it on your windows partition.
Thats it for what you need... I suppose you will need a DVD and a DVD burner. I use Magic ISO, use whatever you think works to burn a disk image. Don't bug me saying you can't get the disk to boot.
Just so you know. I have windows 7 ultimate installed as the primary OS. I am using EasyBCD to set up the boot loader. With EasyBCD just add the windows 7 image, then add the Mac image by clicking the mac tab, dont forget to switch the drop down to the second option. Then add it.
Alright, lets install Mac OS X. Stick the disk in, it should load up. Press F8(THIS IS IMPORTANT). That will bring up a promt for you to imput something...
It will look like,
Type in this: cpus=1
If you want to see whats going on type in: cpus=1 -v -x -f
Only type in one of those and hit enter. At this point it should be loading up the installer. It will eventually ask you for the language, select your language. Click next and it will say preparing installer, wait for it to load.
The installer is now up.. Click Utilities at the top and click Disk Utility...
You will need a partition free for this.. Select your partition and click erase. THIS WILL FORMAT SO BE CAREFULL. Select the right partition or you might have to start over and we don't want that.
Now once thats done. Close Disk Utility. The Welcome screen will come back up, click continue, click agree, click the hard drive you want to install to, then click continue.
DO NOT CONTINUE PAST HERE, Click CUSTOMIZE or it will install the defaults and most likely won't install the right stuff.
Here is the list I used for my particular hardware setup.
Drop down iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Intel AMD SSE2 SSE3
Check 9.2.0 netkas SpeedStep Kernel
Video Drivers > NVIDIA > MacBook Pro Latest NVIDIA kexts
(This video driver works but only shows up as 32mb of the 512mb there is on the card. So this is by far not a fully functioning driver. However the OS loads and you can fix the driver in the OS if you feel like it, I might edit this later if I fix it. The card is an nVidia GeForce 9800M GS 512mb)
Chipset Drivers > Intel ICHx SATA Drivers
Under audio I'm not sure... I don't know the exact audio device in this laptop. If I figure it out I will update this with how to install the audio driver in the OS.
Ethernet Drivers > Realtek R1000
(tested and working great!)
Under wireless drivers don't click anything. None of the drivers there work for the Intel 5100 from what I have looked for... I could be wrong, check it out if you need it. I looked on the iwidarwin and they dont have support for the 5100 yet.. I will try installing the 5150 and see what that does... I'll update later.
USB Drivers > Patched USB Drivers
Power Management > AppleACPIBetteryManager
Fixes and Patches > ACPI Fix
Fixes and Patches > CPUS=1 One Core Fix (Stops hangs while booting)
Fixes and Patches > IOPCIFamily.kext patched
Fixes and Patches > Finder 10.5.5 + Keyboard.prefPane
Fixes and Patches > Seatbelt.kext 10.5.5
Fixes and Patches > Shutdown/Restart Fix
Fixes and Patches > Alternate Disablers > IntelCPUPMDisabler
Fixes and Patches > PS/2 Device Support > PS/2 Keyboard Fix
Fixes and Patches > AppleSMBIOS Patch > AppleSMBIOS-27 Rev3 800MHz
For applications, thats up to you. Thats in your done.. If your using this laptop or something similar Mac OS X should start right up after installation.
If for some reason you have problems getting back into windows after installing mac os, stick your windows disk in and go to recovery. In there... There should be some options just click command prompt and type in all this...
select disk #
select partition #
Replace the numbers there with the numbers that show up from list disk and list partition. You should be able to do this. Mind you this is all at your own risk. I am simply writing this because I spent so much time trying to get it to work and just decided why not. Thats it people, if you have any logical questions I will be happy to answer them. Don't just come here and post here asking how to install this stuff. This tutorial is for an ASUS G50VT-X5 laptop. If you are not using this particular laptop I can't help you much. Only post questions that relate to this laptop. Anyway. I will add the driver stuff later if I get to it. I might even add pictures if I have to reinstall mac os x again. The text should explain it pretty well.
Thats it... You have installed iPC on an ASUS G50VT-X5
Replay to this post with questions and I will get to them eventually. Happy Hackintoshing
Any wireless card, graphics card, and audio driver updates?
I have tried to get the audio, graphics and wireless to work. I got a netgear wg111v2 adapter that works with mac osx 10.4-10.5 thats all I got though. I actually just broke my installation trying to get the graphics driver to work. I have heard that if you install the EVGA 200 series driver for the nvidia geforce 9800gs 512mb, that works. I will have to give it a try later.

Reason: Dbase error
For your NV 9800 GS, you can use EFIStudio to inject string for it, for Leopard. If you're on OSX x64 or x86 NVEnabler version 0.1b would be even better.
