So I've gone through about 20 or so HP Pavillion threads, and none of them seem to have the same issue or make as me. I was reading icchansan's thread about HP Pavillion Elites, but idt I'm a compatible make and if I'm not I don't wanna risk losing my Vista by flashing my bios.

MB: ASUS P5LP-LE (couldn't find any compatibility guides for this motherboard and this is what the HP website tells me I have)
Chipset: Intel 945G, ICH7DH (I guess)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8

I'm not sure what other information to post.


I've installed iatkos v7 like 10 times now, different configurations each time. No luck. It installs fine, but when it boots it gives the error “You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button”.

I'm not quite sure how to get information on why it's crashing (if I did -v, wouldn't that go into verbose mode in the installation setup thing? hah, sorry for being a noob).


Any help or suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated I need this for my typography class lawl.

So, I went into the bios and changed some settings (changed something to IDE), and now everything works like a charm.

Although, I installed everything without the needed drivers. Is there anyway of getting all the necessary drivers without having to reinstall my OSX?

i have similar board is lithium maybe your si leonite , same problem , the best distro are , ideneb , xxx, jas, i' m disperate i need iatkos, and you say that the solution is change something about ide , what exactly ?
