Did another fresh install.

-v -f "Graphics mode"="640x480x32@60" results in the blue/black/white herringbone pattern. And of course sound works perfectly. Just can't see anything.

-x results in safe mode boot, and display shows up perfectly in 1024x768. Don't have to use the "Graphics mode" option. And wouldn't you know it... Sound does not work at all. No devices or drivers show up in the sound configuration screen.

So at this point, I am stuck in SAFE BOOT MODE.

Please let me know if anyone gets a fix for the ATI Mobility Radeon 2600 HD, Device ID 0x9581

Here is how I did it....

Fresh install.
- Optional kernal = Voodoo 9.5.0 1.0 (Intel/AND)
- Chipset = ICHx (A200 is ICH8)
- Graphics Driver = DO NOT SELECT ANYTHING AT ALL!
- Audio Drivers = AppleAzaliaAudio
- Network Drivers = PCGeneric Realtek8139
- Other = Bootprompt
- Tools = Selected everything

After you get the Successful Install screen, click reboot, as the notebook powers down & back up again removed the installation DVD and press the F8 function key.

And now... most important...

1. Start in Safe Mode by entering -X at the boot: prompt. Let the system fully boot.

Complete the registration stuff as you see fit.

2. Delete (Trash) the following file "ATIRadeonX2000.kext"

3. Reboot

And there you go. Everything works! No need to enter -s, -v, -x or anything else.

i'm following your steps, but when i boot in -x mode it happens to ask me to plug in the keyboard (while my pc is a laptop like yours).. is it a mistake in the confuguration?

u have to install the Keyboard and the mouse drivers too look for them at the installation
