    Default Stuck at installing leopard...

    Hi,

I'm trying to install Leopard (iatkos v5) on my brand new
    HP Pavilion elite m9790 (core i7 920, 6GB RAM)
HP Pavilion Elite m9700 Desktop PC series specifications - HP Home & Home Office products

I was able to boot from the cd by using cpus=1 and busratio=20, and installed leopard succesfully.
But after restarting, and trying to boot from the hard drive, it always hangs at something like :
Using 5242 buffer header and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers.

    What can I do?

Btw another question : It's a dual boot : my main partition (Windows 7) is installed with my bios parameter at RAID, while I must use ACPI to boot with the mac partition. If I manage to get leopard running, will it be possible to load a kext which can use the RAID mode?

Did you type cpus=1 to boot again after install or it doesnt work?

Btw to get full support for your cores you will need to install retail or with distro I recommend you to use iatkos v7i.

Yes I also tried the cpus=1 option.

    I will download iatkos v7i.
But that is also leopard isn't it? Is there already a good distro with snow leopard?

    Thx!!

    Thanks,

I am downloading v7i right now.

in the mean time, can you advise me on the RAID/ahci issue?
Do I need to reinstall my Windows partition as well in ahci-mode?
Or can OS X work in RAID-mode?

I also read somewhere about HP-users needing to reflash their ROM.
    Will that be necessary?

Thanks again for your advise !

    Thomas.

I dont think you need to BIOS MOD, now... not necessarily need to install windows in AHCI but is kinda annoying go to the BIOS change AHCI, run OSX, then, go to the BIOS boot in RAID to run windows...

If you wanna dualboot without problem just install windows in AHCI XD

Okay, so MacOSX can definitely not work in RAID mode?

If you could just point me to a guide to install v7i on a machine like mine?

    Thanks !

    Hi icchansan,

I tried installing iatkos v7i, but i have exactly the same problems as with v5 :
    i can boot with dvd by using -v -f cpus=1 busratio=20
But after installation, and trying to boot from hard disk, it hangs at the apple logo. If I try to boot with the -v -f cpus=1 busratio=20, it hangs at
Using 5242 buffer header and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers

I did a default install, is it possible that I need to change the settings in the installer for my machine?

    thx.

    Spoke too soon.

Tried by using the tutorial, and checked the correct options in the installer.

    But still not okay :
    - normal boot from disk : crashes immediatly
    - boot with -v -f -cpus=1 -busratio=20 : now hangs a few lines farther,
at "Kernel version = Darwin kernel 9.7.0... System uptime in nanoseconds = xxx.

    Can you please advise?

    Thomas.
