Snow Leopard in DIY PC
Hey guys,
Am a newbie here and haven't built a hackintosh before. Am thinking of putting on together with Snow leopard and have been reading the lifehacker article together with the 10.6 HCL list. It seems like the motherboard and video cards are the most important. I was wondering if any of you know whether the following components are compatible with a hackintosh. It seems like some people do have these components but they aren't in the official HCL list. I need your opinion in which components seem the most feasible/compatible for a stable hackintosh. Thanks!
1. Gigabyte EP45 - UD3P 9550 2.8
2. GTS-250 OC 1 GB
3. Elite DDR2- 800 C5 4 GB Ram
4. Western digital 1TB green
Alternatively,
1. Gigabyte EP45 - UD3P 9550 2.8
2. EVGA 250 512 MB
3. PC6400/800MHZ OCZ DDR2 Titanium 2GB X2 / Alternatively Kingston can be an option
4. WD 1 TB green
One more option for graphics card
XFX GTS250 512MB/ 1GB DDR3

Gigabyte EP45-UD3P Snow Leopard install
The Snow Leopard install on Gigabyte EP45-UD3P mother board works great. To save some money, use the Invidia 8400 GS video card for $39 and don't bother with 1066 memory, it doesn't recognize it. Get the Q8400 2.66Gig CPU for $134 and put a super cooler on it for $25 and over-clock it to 3.2 gig. Get the Mac Pro keyboard and mouse from Macally for $29.
I used the "How to build a Hackintosh - LifeHacker" web site. It Works!!!
I love my $2500 mac Pro!! (for under $700)

Why would you want a WD green for a system drive? (They're 5400 rpm, and slow for that kind of use...) - Use the green drives in external enclosures, they're fine for that, and run VERY cool.
