Problems Formatting SSD for osx Install
I'm trying to load 10.5.6 on a Dell Mini 9. I just upgraded to a Super Talent 32GB SSD. When I try to format the drive in Disk Utility, it locks up the whole Mini.
Any suggestions? I think I could have a pretty smooth install if I can get the drive formatted. I do have an external DVD and a 16GB USB.
I do not have access to a mac.
Is there any other way to format the drive for osx?
Thanks
Bob

I suggest loading everything on the 16GB USB flash drive as your primary hard disk. Once you have that all setup and patched with everything you can get working on it, clone it to your SSD. It's probably the easiest method because while working off of your USB flash drive, you can see your SSD as an "external" hard drive. So use disk utility to partition it with one partition and then clone your USB to your SSD. Once you do that, patch it with Chameleon and DSDT patcher if applicable. Shut down. Remove your USB flash drive and then boot up with your regular SSD. You should be working under normal conditions now.

Thanks for the Help. It worked perfectly installing to the 16GB usb. I have downloaded a free copy of SuperDuper! to clone the disk. It's running now. The install has exceeded my expectations. This software works great on the Mini 9!
