What to do after OSX installation? How to install kexts? (HP Mini 5102)
Hi, I have an HP Mini 5102 and I installed OSX Snow Leopard (10.6) on it as per this guide: Dell Mini 10v Installation via USB and Mac | Guides | OS X | mechdrew. I don't think anything exists on the internet as far as OSX86 on this particular Mini….
Everything looks good… but I can't help feeling like I'm only half-way through the installation... :spinme :spinme :spinme
1. The computer doesn't boot unless the USB flash drive I installed from is plugged in. I can select the internal HD from the Chameleon menu and that works fine. I changed all the BIOS settings back in order to boot from the internal HD, but I still get some kind of kernel error and it goes into a boot loop:( Do I need to make some kind of EFI partition?
2. USB drive support is a spotty. Even when I boot from a USB drive it doesn't mount on the desktop once it starts up. If I boot up in safe mode, occasionally devices will work.
3. Wifi isn't working… the 5102 has a Broadcom 4322g. I read a post on here by someone who has a mini 2140 (which has the same wifi card as the 5102, I think) and they attached a kext which is supposed to be installed into my /Extra/Extensions/ folder. I'm confused as to how it works, though. Do I just put it in /Extra/Extensions/ on my installation disk and reboot? Seems too simple….
4. A bunch of other things…
I KNOW I'm a noob to the whole hackintosh thing, but this seems like a helpful place and I was hoping someone might be able to help me out. If anyone knows anything about this I would be so so so grateful.
