upgrade to 10.5.8 fails
my vanilla install was going along beautifully -- followed a few different tutorials and was comfortably using 10.5.7.
had a look at a forum post about upgrading to 10.5.8 and it said "vanilla users just do an apple update and install, it'll just work"
so i did.
and it didn't.
now the machine won't boot past chameleon -- chameleon just gives me a "you must restart your machine" error every time i boot up.
how do i revert back to 10.5.7 or am i screwed and just have to reinstall everything again?
To update to 10.5.8 had to do this
You can install using software update just with retail or iatkos latest distros... yeh you have to reinstall
so to upgrade from 10.5.7 i should really just download the combo updater and start a whole retail install from scratch, ie re-partition the drive etc?
is it safe to use the apple updater for anything with a retail install? I thought the whole point of using a bootloader and a retail disc was that you're supposed to be able to just upgrade without annything breaking...
