Updating to 10.5.3 problems

Hi all,

I'm attempting to update my Kalyway 10.5.2 install to 10.5.3 using the so called combo update. However when the first .pkg is installing, at some point it goes to the blue colored screen that you see before logging in, and I have to force restart. After that I can never get past the gray apple logo. So, the upgrade ruins my install.

Any ideas on this? I think that the drivers for my sound card may only work on 10.5.3 so I may have to try a different distro.

I'm running this on an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ which supports SSE, SSE2, and SSE3.
