Need help installing retail with grub

Specs:

GA-EP45-UD3P

Intel Q9400

SATA 160GB HD

SATA samsung DVD drive

ATI radeon 2600 XT pro

When i boot with grub using -v it gets stuck and says "still waiting for root device."

I have AHCI enabled.

Any suggestions?

I plugged my DVD drive into the yellow SATA port instead of the purple one and i got past the looking for root device part.

However, my screen is now stuck with a bunch of purple, blue, red, and green dots on it.

Your doing something wrong cuz this mobo is 100% compatible check the HCL and google cuz theres guides for this one, good luck

The problem was my ATI video card. I booted with -x and all was good.

My hackintosh is up and running. I posted a guide/tutorial for others to check out.
