kalyway dual boot XP and OSX - Soooo close I can taste it!
First off, forgive me if I am revisiting something that has been covered, but my searches have come up for nil.
I have been trying to get my Gateway CX210 tablet to dual boot xp and osx. I have the kalyway 10.5.1 disc. Here is what I have done so far:
1: XP was pre-exisiting, so I used gparted to shrink the size of the partition and made a 50gb blank partition for osx. Rebooted, did a chkdisk on boot, and XP working fine.
2: Booted from OSX disc, waited, went to Disk Utilities, formated partition as mac extended journaled with mbr. named the drive "mac" (original, I know).
3: Installed OSX, with only vanilla_kernal, Vanilla_ACPI_fix, SSE2_System, and BOOT_efi_mbr checked under customize. Installation went fine.
Now for the problems:
a: upon rebooting after the install, the OSX install just constantly reboots. It happens too fast to see the exact details, but when I use the -v flag, what happens is that the darwin loader comes up, some text comes up then the screen clears, more text comes up in a smaller font, then after a paragraph of text, there is a line that says something like "mac framework successfully initialized", then one that says "using ###### buffer and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers", then it reboots. Wiith no flag, I get a brief view of the grey screen with the logo, then reboot. Tried re-installing with sse2 and boot_efi_mbr checked, same results.
b: When I hit any key for startup options, I get a listing of all my partitions, starting with the recovery partition, then my windows partition, then the mac, listed as such:
hd(0,2) Windows NTFS
Selecting mac takes me to the aforementioned reboot dance, but selecting the windows partition takes me to windows boot, where I am immediately informed that:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing
Please re-install a copy of the above file.
So my laptop is lying in a netherworld somewhere between a brick and a wicked cool laptop. I assume that I can use my recovery options to fix the windows problem, and since I have an image of the disk from before I started all of this, going back to square one is a time consuming possibility. I'd like to fix things, though, so any help would be appreciated. Here is the hardware listing in the laptop:
Core Duo 2ghz
ATI radeon x1400 pci express
Audio Chipset: SigmaTel 9250
Integrated Intel 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet
Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945 ABG 802.11a/b/g Mini PCI Express Card
DVD±R/±RW/CD-RW (8X Double Layer)
14" 1280x768 display
Integrated 7n1 card reader
Thanks in advance!
Grrrrr going nuts trying to get my Tablet M285 (cx200) to work
On the 3rd install now-- gave up on Vanilla and am now trying kernel 9.2 sidestep. Is it safe to assume that I can't get the x1400 working either?
Got 10.2.5 loaded perfectly on a GM6478 desktop and a Sony Vaio AR 630 e laptop. Any updates on the configuration you get on your tablet would be great!
