Installation help alienware m17x
looking for some help installing OSx on my m17x I have tried both the iAtkos v5i and the iDeneb v1.4 disks each giving me a differnt headache iAtkos started a reboot loop which is a pain since I can't manually eject a disk on this laptop and the ideneb gives me the fun 'ole "still waiting for root device" I was gonna attempt an install via USB to see if that works but I figured I would put this up in hopes that if this fails also someone might have posted some help.
System Specs:
- Intel Core 2 Duo T9500 2.6 GHz
- Intel GM965 by Asus not sure specific Asus model number
- 2048 MB DDR2 PC5300
- Dual NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX
- 320GB Seagate Sata II HD
- Realtek ALC885/889A
- Realtek RTL8168C/8111C
- Intel 4965 A/B/G/Draft-N Wireless card
- Optiarc Sata Blueray w/DVD Burner
No luck with installers except one so far
Well, I got XxX 10.5.6 Universal Final v2 to install once (base install only) but got a memory access error when booting into the OS.
Have tried iPC 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 Final, iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5, iAtkos v4.i 10.5.4, Leo4All v3 10.5.2 and several other versions of these same builders and others such as Jas but my Blue Ray Burner Drive appears to dislike the discs as it will not boot off of any of them and is not recognizing them even though they were burnt at the slowest speeds and will not recognize the XxX install disc anymore either.
Hopefully I am not having a problem with the Blue Ray Drive. Had to send the original laptop back due to it being configured wrong and wait for it to be credited back to my account and then reorder the laptop and I do not intend to go through that again.
I will keep you posted with my discoveries as they develop or start a new thread. My progress may be slow as I am in 2 each 3D (Maya) and 1 each Compositing (AfterEffects CS4 and Shake -> have to do this one on an iMac for now) course in college at the moment and will not be able to do too much while in the middle of these courses.
