ideneb v1.3 10.5.5 problem after install

Hey guys, new to this forum and a n00b to this whole os x86 thing, pretty sweet though.I have made several VMs to work with Vista 32-bit as my host. I wanted to do a dual boot with Vista and iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5. I already have vista installed and running great, no problem there. I can get iDeneb to boot-up from the DVD and install. The issue comes after the install. when it goes to boot up for the first time after the install, it just goes to a grey-ish screen. The apple logo comes up and it is thinking (I can tell by the little "clock" thing under the logo ticking around and around) but after a few moments the screen will go grey-ish and then stay like that....FOR HOURS!! I have tried a several different configs but it happens with every one. I have looked around in different forums and on the net but to no avail. So what do you think it is? Here are my specs: AMD Phenom 9950 oc'ed 3.2Ghz4 Gigs of 1066 ram2 ATI 3870's1 500 Gig Seagate SATA drive1 250 Gig WD SATA driveAsus M3A79-T Deluxe motherboardI hade to change some settings in the BIOS for the DVD to boot iDeneb, I had to change my SATA from IDE to AHCI and also disable my eSata port and a couple other things.Some help would be greatly appreciated!!!Oh, and sorry about the length of this first post. It is after all my very first post/thread in a forum....EVER. What did I say....n00b...hahahaha :D

Thanks for responding so quickly....just a quick question, during the setup of the different packages to install i.e. x11, amd patch, applications, etc, found under customize, just right before you click the install button, there is an option for the cpus=1 under the fix option. I am not sure if it has the -v after it but I would think that this would do the same thing as what you mentioned I should do. Am I right? Also, after the install I type in -v in darwin before it boots so that I can see any errors and none show up, at least none that I can see or catch (it goes too fast). after the console/darwin loads everything, it goes to the Apple GUI/logo with the rotating busy "clock" kind of a thing below the apple logo (not to be confused with the rainbow colored busy circle thing). So it acts as if it is loading the user's desktop but then it flashes and goes to a mac/apple grey colored screen but nothing else is visible. I will try what you mentioned and see if I can get some screenshots too. Thanks again for your help!

One other thing, should I type in cpus=1 -v during darwin after install or before I install? Does it make a difference? Thanks! :-)

yeah, type this rite now after installing, I believe this is in the customize just to do it automatly for you, I just want you to test if you can boot into leopard with just one core, you can try several flags to test this, so you dont need to select that option under customize :P

Btw, Your Using AMD Processor, so you cant use Vanilla Kernel, so may sure you Select AMD Patch and a Patched Kernel like StageXNU or SpeedStep, Also AppleSMBIOS-27-1066 cuz ur Memory, and your ATI 3870 of cuz, thats everything you need so far.

In the BIOS you can try with AHCI support and disable onboard stuff like LAN, Audio, etc

ok, so I am going to reinstall and select the packages that you mentioned. I had the majority of them already installed but didn't have some of them. Oh, and another thing. I was wrong about one thing. When I boot up, it doesn't go to the apple screen logo, it just goes to a light blue/grey-ish colored screen. My hard drive light goes on and off, sometimes remains on but sometimes it is off for a period of time and then back on. So the hdd is being accessed. I will give it another try. :-)

I have been successful at installing this same os x86 distro on a vm and it works great.

In the bios, I have disabled everything that I don't need, lan, audo, etc. If I don't select AHCI then darwin stops at one point and wont continue, let it be the installer or after the installation, it just stops...so I have to go with AHCI but then if I want vista to boot I have to change it back. I am going to look for a ahci driver for vista and hope that it works that way I can leave it on AHCI in the BIOS :-)

What does the -x and -f do?

Yeh to run Vista as AHCI have to reinstall Vista again in that mode, or always have to change it in the BIOS before go to Vista, kinda annoying.

-x = safe mode
-f = force mode
-v = verbose mode
-s = single user

Maybe is too early to say this but I believe you need to MOD your BIOS :/

Ok, so I did a bare minimum install, just the stageXNU, appleSMBIOS-27-1066, the ATI 3870, AMD Patch, the cpus=1 fix, and that is it, I think. after the install, I tried a couple things. First I did cpus=1 -v -x -f in darwin at boot, IT WORKED!!!! I finally got to the registration screens! Thanks!! Only thing is that it didn't recognize my keyboard/mouse. I have a wireless dual system. One reciever for both the keyboard and mouse. It is a microsoft desktop set 1000. I would go through os x's determine the keyboard screen by pressing the keys it asked me to do, selected the country, and then it would loop back to the can not determine your keyboard. So finally I had to chose us extended instead of the normal us keyboard layout. It is working. Then I tried to boot with just cpus=1 and -v, stuck at the blue screen. So I tried just cpu=1 -v -x, it boots. So it looks like I have to boot into safe mode, what a drag!! Any fix to this? Also, I restarted and am able to boot by just typing in darwin -x, no need for -v or cpus=1. So, my next thing is: how do I boot but NOT in to safe mode and also, what would I need to MOD in my BIOS? I am writing this right now from leo, hehehehe. :-) Thanks again for your help! :-)

Good to hear that, Yeah I told you, if you install cpus=1 fix, it gonna do it automatly so you dont need to type this flag in darwin, damn so safe mode eh, then yeah I believe you need the BIOS MOD, to get all cores working, at this moment your just running one core, it suks.

I have BIOS MOD too, and now I can install any version even retail (Leopard Original), I have all cores working. you can ask for a BIOS MOD here, also theres a new solution for DSDT, check around for it :D

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it!! I have been in computers for quite a while but mostly with MS stuff. I have played around with linux quite a bit, but hardly anything with the terminal so no real knowledge of any commands and this is new for me, the whole os x86 stuff, like around a week!!

So what is DSDT? Also I am doing to re-install leo again and install the apps. Also, I am going to try and NOT install the cpus=1 fix, I just want to see if it really is the issue. What exactly will the BIOS MOD do to my bios, what will it mod? Thanks! :-)

Download Afuwin to backup your BIOS and then ask for BIOS MOD using the link that I give you, read about DSDT using google, this is technical stuff that Im not really familiar, I just using the magic XD
