iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 on GT5426E

I have some problems with iDeneb v1.3 on my Gateway GT5426E system (see sig for details), although it is up and running for the most part:

• On boot, the screen says there were errors and that it will pause 5 seconds, but then it continues to boot.
• It takes about 7 minutes for my PC to boot into OS X: 2 minutes of either the grey/white Apple screen or scrolling messages (depending on whether I use '-v' to boot), then 5 minutes of a black screen (regardless of the '-v'), then a blue screen for about 30 seconds, and then finally OS X.
• When I try to save my system profile results to a text file, the system locks up at the very end of the "export".
• Firefox crashes regularly, almost every time I use it.
• The Darwin boot loader automatically tries to boot my XP partition by default (and fails, so the boot process loops), unless I intervene and choose my OSX86 partition manually, which works as described.
• Sometimes shutdowns and restarts work after a blank screen and a pause of a few minutes, and sometimes it never shuts down. (I've tried setting power management in BIOS to S1, S3, and S1 & S3)

I chose the latest kernel (9.4 I believe) in the iDeneb custom installation menu. My Marvell Yukon ethernet adapter and nVidia GForce GT7600 256MB video worked right away with the appropriate iDeneb "fixes". But I had to hack my onboard Realtek ALC888 to get it working.

Any suggestions on improving the installation or what I've done wrong?

Try installing another kernel, download voodoo kernel (google it), try with S3 in the BIOS, and good luck and try firefox again if it doesnt work, try to avoid, use safari or opera

Thanks icchansan. I've installed the Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel, and changed BIOS power management to S3. Boot time still takes about 7 minutes, as described earlier, and rebooting and shutting down seems to behave the same as before.

I also wonder whether I should try to upgrade to 10.5.6 (I don't think iDeneb has this yet, so I would have to use another version, not sure how yet), since it may be more stable. Also, I downloaded a trial version of iWork 09, but it wouldn't install under 10.5.5 (requires 10.5.6).

A few other problems I wanted to mention with my installation:

• I have a Logitech G15 keyboard and MX 610 mouse. After installing the Logitech Keyboard Profiler application, the system recognizes the keyboard, but only basic functionality works with the mouse. I installed the Logitech Control Center application, but it says No Logitech Device Found. I also see in my Trash every day a new "Recovered Files #n" folder, which contains a file called com.logitech.lcdmon.501.
  
• After installing OSX86, a Linux partition on another drive (drive 0, IDE) no longer boots and the BIOS just says "OS not installed". On OSX boot, I get a Disk Insertion error that a disk is not readable and must be initialized, and the disk and partitions on which Linux is installed are the only ones not accessible in Finder.

I also need to report my first kernel crash after changing the kernel to Voodoo. I was unzipping a large file (with BetterZip) and the kernel panicked. I don't see any record of the panic in my logs, but I've included a copy of "All Messages"... well, I can't seem to attach the file as a zip, so here's a link:

More bad news: it appears it wasn't just the application, and that the system can't handle large files at all. I was simply trying to copy an OSX ISO image from a USB disk to the OSX disk, and the kernel panicked again.

I think is because your mobo chipset, google info about 430 nforce, I think zephiroth is a better option for you

Looks like the latest zephyroth version is 10.5.2. Are there any newer options that might work? iPC 10.5.6 maybe?

Just try to get successful installation, then you can always update or fix your problems, I think zephyroth will help you, I dunno if iPC support AMD but you can try, remember that your problem is your nforce mobo

Well, I did have a successful install with iDeneb 1.3, sort of, was buggy and took 7 minutes to boot or shut down, but at least it worked. Then I installed the voodoo kernel, and that didn't help. So then I tried installing iPC's 10.5.6, and now I no longer have a booking OSX: it dies at 'boot1: error'. I have tried:

• Using EasyBCD to "repair" the hfs+ file system.
• Re-installing using the DVD< then installing the chamelion boot loader.
• Booting into -s mode with the DVD (but this failed to accept keyboard input at the prompt, either because it would not recognize my USB keyboard, or it froze).

Haven't had any luck yet, still getting 'boot1: error'. If there's anything else I can try to fix it, please let me know. Otherwise, maybe I should use an old zephyroth release for my nForce chipset, and then try to update it somehow?

Yeh, btw you are installing OSX on IDE HDD or SATA? yeh you can update using the guide in the sticky. I think for these distro you have to update 1st to 10.5.3, then you can jump to 10.5.5.
