how to install from external usb harddisk?

I got my hands on an os x leopard live dvd (ipc), but i want to try it on my eee pc (a netbook without a dvd drive). i got an external usb harddisk on wich i want to copy the contents of that iso (the harddrive is split up in 2 partitions, by the way).

i've already managed to copy the contents of my xp installation cd to an usb disk and make it bootable once, with the programs usb_prep8 (wich doesn't recognize my external drive as an usb stick), and bootsect, wich makes it bootable, but wich i lost.

so how do i copy the contents of that .iso to one partition of my drive, and then make it bootable so i can boot from it on my eee?

You do not boot iso images. The MAC OS is NOT XP - it is UNIX and the two are as different as night and day. If you have to ask - that means you do not know how - and why should someone take on this esoteric project which from my years as a UNIX engineer tell me it is pie in the sky and will never work.

This is the MAC OS - not esoterica - if you do not have a hard drive to install it on as a permanent machine, forget about it.

These so called Hackintosh forums and development efforts exist because Apple likes testing and development to help them get to possibly a future marketable product and can expand their product base. It is not here to do weird things like this.

If you bought a licensed retail copy and called up apple and told them you were trying to do this - you would get equally NOWHERE.

i would also love to hear how i can set it to boot from my external drive.

I have the retail version of OS X on my windows machine and im planning on installing using a boot-132 disc. but my problem is that i dont have any duel-layer DVD i can burn the iso of OS X on :/ so i need to find another mean of mounting the image.

I believe there is always a way.

We just need for someone who 1) knows how to do it, and 2) who is willing to share the knowledge with the rest of the hackint0sh community.
