Dell Mini 9 System Update - FAIL
My brother-in-law built a Dell Mini 9 to run OS X (10.5) for my wife. I mistakenly ran the System Update and now it freezes once the OS loads (obviously). I tried reading through the update sticky thread but most of it was over my head. Also, I'm not running a dual boot so most of the fixes required modifying files on the volume. I'm confident I can reformat the volume and re-install the mac os but I'd like to recover the files on the volume. I can interrupt the boot process which brings meet to a boot: prompt. I've tried some mount commands to mount a volume but I get "Kernel overflows available space". Can anyone help me save the data on the drive (I don't think removing the HD is very feasible). It's not too critical but my brother in law left some music for my wife to listen too. He recently passed (just built and gave us the computer a month ago) and I'd really like to get the songs (there were 800 and we have no idea what was there).
Thanks in advance,
