Can't Repair Disk Permissions - Ownership Confused?
Okay... built a box this week with the following spec:
- Gigabyte EP45C DS3R
- Intel Q6600
- 512 Palit 8400 GS
- 2GB Corsair Value RAM
- 500GB SATA2 Deskstar
Installing Kalyway 1.5.2 went like a breeze, was caught out once by burning it at 4x, but burning at 2x worked fine! Sound took a while, until I found the right thread with the right Kexts, and getting dual screen graphics was no trouble with EFIStudio!
I'm stuck at the moment though, I think the disk ownership might be messed up, as trying to repair permissions on the hard disk won't work.
Verify Disk Permissions gives the message:
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit.
Verify Disk says:
"ERROR: could not freeze volume (Permission denied)
Booting from the Kalyway DVD running Disk Utility from there lets me verify the disk, but gives the same error for verifying the disk permissions.
I've tried various settings for SATA in the BIOS, to no avail. The drive has GUID as the partition scheme, and is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
I had it working for a little bit on this install, but it seems to have got confused. Where could the problem be? I did partition it after installation, but have removed the partitions and it's still playing up. Would partitioning even have caused this?
