Default Please help. Can't load up OS after reboot.

    Hi Guys,

I've been working on this hackintosh for countless hours now. My build is:

    GA-EP45-UD3L
    9800 GT 1GB BFG
    QUAD CORE 2.83GHZ
    Regular optical

When i first started researching bootloaders i came across Chameleon, Boot 132, and also modified boot 132's. I tried to follow guides that were geared towards my mobo but just couldn't boot up the snow leopard install. Also, i am using the snow leopard retail cd.

Finally, i downloaded a boot 132 iso had all this stuff bundled in it which allowed me to boot from snow leopard. I formatted the drive, partitioned using guid, and started installing.

About 10 minutes in the progress bar halted, and the time remaining ceased to countdown. I waited the allotted time(40 minutes), and it eventually rebooted itself. I have read this is normal.

However, now i am faced with the situation where i cannot boot into that partition at all. I've tried close to 4 darwin(boot132?) cd's, some with gui's and some without, and i get stuck on same step when i do a verbose:

Loading Mach_Kernel From 4420xxx. It gets about 3 lines deep then freezes there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm almost tempted to just give in and get an underpowered mac mini just to save myself from pulling out my hair.

    Hi there,
there is a mod MAC BIOS with all the required DSDT and patches.
It simplifies installation and makes system closer to the real mac.
    Have you tried it?

From my experience, being stuck on loading mach_kernel is caused by using the wrong dsmos.kext. I believe you can use fakesmc.kext now instead though.

If after try all that your issue is not resolved, I'll suggest you to try Rebel EFI. Your hardware is compatible (I'm guessing you have a SATA Optical Drive) with it. especially you Gigabyte Motherboard (GA-EP45C-UD3R) which is Intel P45 (LGA 775 CPU Socket).

I hope this can help you!

    Default Getting closer

So using a BOOT132 iso from insanelymac i was able to not only install, but continue after reboot into the os using the -v and -f switches.

This is where my newest problem comes in. The patching part with EFI strings and kexts. I'll be honest i dont know what these things do. They seem like drivers, and i'm apparently messing up using them.

I've been using OSX86 and Universal loader to try and patch things and after i install/run commands after i reboot i can no longer acccess the partition.

Ratvn: I tried the mac bios thing briefly last night and flashed the bios succesfully. I did a little reading on DSDT and i imagine that this would make it so i dont have to do all the kext patching with OSX86?

I apparently got a wrong videocard that isn't on the compatibility list. My fault, i just assumed all 9800 gt's worked in some fashion. This bfg one is on 640x480 and i saw a compatibility listing for an OC version of the card that only goes up to 1280x1024. This is lame to say the least. I will be getting another more compatible card.

    Hi,
So have you got OSX up and running? Should not need DSDT patching, but just a few kexts.
You can try newest NV drivers for mac on their web site for your video card.

Default Up and running - sorta

So i figured out how to install Chameleon RC4 using the command line. I did it twice, one for the hard drive and for for usb stick.

Now when i boot off either i get an EBIOS Read error : device timeout for about 5 minutes before i get the splash for chameleon to load my osx.

So if i do a -v -f on the drive it eventually freezes on something about a usb device failing 6 times so its being terminated. I'll post in more detail when i reload again(doing so now)

Odd thing is if i load through the Boot132 disk with -v -f, it gets passed that part.

When i load up finally i have ethernet enabled which is great, but the video still sucks. Going to look for the drivers in a second.

EDIT: It's freezing after saying Applexxxxxx:Found a transaction past the completion deadline on bus 0xfd.

USBMassstorage: The device is still unresponsibe after 6 consecutive usb device rsets: it will be terminated

    NVDANV50HAL loaded and registered.

EDIT AGAIN: I took out the usb after realizing how stupid i am. No more ebios errors, still can't load the mac drive just by hitting enter, going to try -f -v.

Default Failed to locate SMC driver

Stuck on this part booting from the hard drive patched with chameleon. I'm guessing this has to do with the fact that i didn't do any kext's yet.

    Hi,
Good job for getting that far. Yes, you do need a few kexts before it will run, and fakesmc 2.5 is one of them.

    Default lol

I just broke my install for the 3rd time. It seems every time i try to use UI OSX86 Installer or OSX86_Tools i do something where the computer won't boot(kernel panic).

I would be annoyed, but this is almost comical at this stage. I've got ethernet working, all i need now is sound and graphics. I tried to do the OSX86 efi injection for my custom nvidia(9800 gt 1gb bfg), but i get an applescript error each time. Googling doesn't help whatsoever.
