OSX86 Laptop Project
Hi all, great site and forum, I've spent the last few days trying to install Leopard on my laptop, I just fancy trying it out as a project, but sadly have not succeeded. I have been a Mac user for years, I have a G5 Quad, a Powerbook G4 and a new Macbook Pro. However I wanted to try to run Leopard on my Windows laptop to see if it runs better. My laptop is manufactured by Stone and the model is a GT1W but I am having absolutely no success in finding much out about the laptop, I only bought it a few years ago but even the manufacturer has nothing on their site about the model!
This is what I have done so far; I partitioned 15gb of the 80gb HDD with Partition Magic 8, in order to try to make a dual boot machine, I reboot, then I use the [grub-dfe.iso] disc to boot the machine, it works fine, I put my original Leopard 10.5 disc in the drive, it spins up, does the apple logo bit (with spinning wheel beneath) then it gets to a blank blue screen (the OSX setup colour)and then stays that way - FOREVER!!
Anyway, I have read many, many, many threads on the site, but nothing seems to apply to my laptop. I am not sure that anyone will be able to help me, I have more or less given up on the idea now tbh, but just in case here is the spec of my laptop;
Intel 945 Express Chipset
Sony DVD-RW DW-Q520A
80gb SATA HDD
Intel T2599 2ghz CPU
Realtek Audio
1GHZ RAM
The option to change the SATA to AHCI is not in my Bios, as the Bios is probably a bespoke cut-down version for the laptop, I have looked for an updated Bios but, due to the lack of info, I have also had zero success. My current Bios is a Phoenix Bios and I ran a prog called BiosAgent to try to see if I could find out more about it and it gave me the following info;
BIOS Type: Phoenix
BIOS Date: May 10th 2006
BIOS: 1.0b-1264-8a20
Chipset: Intel 27A0 rev 3
Manufacturer: Stone-Computers
Motherboard: NOTCHA-102
I'm sorry for rambling on, if anyone can help I would be over the moon, if not thankyou for your time and I appreciate you reading this!!
Dave
