    Then save it.

Now you can recover your AppleSMBIOS/AppleHDA/etc (didn’t you forget to make backups before running update ?)

    And finally press restart.

    Hello new to forum:
When you say recover your AppleSMBIOS/AppleHDA/etc do you mean copy back all the backed up extensions or just specific ones?

    will appreciate any response.

Post stated: for those interested in knowing, I had initially installed Kalyway10.5.2. with original ATI x300 and no CI QE couldnt even play vids on vlc. spent $30 on Gforce card re-enstalled system and Bingo. everything worked. now trying to update OS from 10.5.2. to 10.5.5 hopefully until able to purchase a mac in 5-6 months.

OK on update. I followed instructions to the T. Took 3 times. First time major fiasco, I "su' instead of "sudo -r" and permission was denied in the middle of combo install and guess what happened next??.............Kernel panic.

After that I had too zero out the drive due too I could not re-install the OS... anyway....

I installed 10.5.5combo successfully but system will now "not" boot automatic to Desktop. For it to boot I need to press F8 and then type "sleepkernel" and then it boots to the desktop.

Question is, How can I fix this so that it boots straight into the Desktop like it used to do before the update. Does it have to do something with the backed up extensions which I did not copy back but still have on storage drive?

I guess if I have to live with I will, But I really would like it to boot normally.

    Thanks for replying
OK. I thought everything was fine but it wasn't. I was having graphics problems. I cant remember if QE or CI was showing hardware accelerated and not supported. Whereas before the 10.5.5. update they were both showing hardware accelerated and supported. So I decided to re-install. I will start with Kalyway10.5.2 so I have three questions:

1-when should I install the voodoo kernel before or after 10.5.5.combo update?

2- If voodoo kernel doesn't fix rebooting loop, and should I continue to have problems with rebooting loop what would be next step?

3-If I still have a problem with the broken Nividia Video extensions should I reload them (from backup) with x86tools or
    should I seek alternate fix?

fyi: not sure if its duo core or core duo.I do know it has 2cpu's. when it was given to me i was told it was dual core.

    will appreciate any response.

Many many thanks. Updated to 10.5.5 the voodoo kernel solved the problem with the reboot loop. My only problem now is I lost resolution options.

-QE says not supported (before update supported)
-CI shows "software" (before update hardware accelerated) not sure if this is a big deal.

I tried loading the extensions (w/x86tools) from the link you provided but when booted could not see desktop, huge pixels everywhere. i rebooted -s and removed the nvid extensions. and rebooted fine but no QE or CI. I am wondering what I did wrong, are there newer extensions or are there many/or one specific extensions to load?

Thanks again I installed the 9f23installer package and computer would not boot to desktop. Got hung up at grey screen. rebooted into safe mode. Somehow dont ask how, i gravitated to nvkush and installed it and SHAZAM. Got CI QE and resolutions back. thanks again I'll drop a donation sometime this week. 10.5.5 should last me a while until able to purchase a new mac.

    thanks again
