i bought this netbook some days ago. The Hercules-provided specs say:

• Intel Atom N270 1.60GHz
• 512MB DDR2 (max 2 GB expandable)
• 60GB HDD 1.8"
• Intel GMA950 (IGP) shared memory
• 3x USB 2.0/LAN/WLAN 802.11bgn
• 3in1 Card Reader (SD/SDHC/MMC)
• Webcam (1.3 Megapixel)
• 8.9" WSVGA TFT (1024x600)

With the pre-installed Linux, I was able to get some more Info (slightly abbreviated):

Host bridge: Intel 945GME

For installation issues, I lend an external USB-DVD Drive.

What happens when I boot from DVD? (Always with the -v option)

With iDeneb 10.5.8 Lite:

Last lines displayed:

Waiting for boot volume with UUID...
Waiting on <dict ID="0"...
AppleIntelPIIXPATA: Secondary PCI IDE channel is disabled
AppleIntelPIIXPATA: 80-conductor cable not detected on primary channel

Nothing more happens, Netbook can only switched off/on.

Some behaviour with iDeneb 10.5.6.

With iAtkos v7, the netbook just reboots (to fast to read something).

Would be nice, if someone could bring me on the right path

Or is it generally impossible to use this netbook with OSX?

Aw, try typing cpus=1 -v -x and report back, check guides for netbooks like MSI Wind and HP Mini

I tried the switches you mentioned, the result is, that the last two lines (the AppleIntelPIIXPATA-ones) disappeared. Last line is now the one with

Waiting on <dict ID="0"...

I ' ll check the guides you posted in the meantime.

Edit: The guides I have found start after a successful DVD boot...I 'm not getting so far

Tried out Kalyway 10.5.2, and had no luck, too...

Ok, tested the external DVD Drive with my main PC (running ideneb).
No problems...

Found out, that the displayed lines below are the last before the detection of the HDD-controllers.

Seems that HDD-controller could not be found and for that, the installation is stalling

I think, it doesn't matter for the recognition whether the HDD is formatted for Linux, NTFS, HFS or anything...

Can anyone help me out of this?

Tried an older ideneb 1.3 and had no luck, too

So I'm giving up for now...Tested 3 different distros with the same error...no more ideas here.

If anyone has ideas to solve my problems, I'm back in the game.
