Default I've gotten several distro's to work on this board...

....but nothing you can set your watch to. I mean, I have used JaS 2.0, ToH R2, Kalyway 10.5.2, and even a iDeneb 10.5.6 ALL of which I got to at least boot (many worked fine for a time). Then I decided to try dual booting, and lost it. My frustration is that I can't really get anything to work consistently, and its frustrating the hell out of me (even single boot). I have tried MBR, GUID, and as many customisation options as I care to admit. I even write them down in a special book, but when time comes to duplicate the result,it fails. Usually in a different way each time (panic or hang, or boot-loop) I just recently tried to get the iDeneb 10.5.6 to work with the voodoo 9.5 kernel..again. I mean it worked once, and I even wrote it down, but I can't get it to work again. (I tried to reinstall because I don't otherwise know how to install kexts post-install (if anyone has a good source for that I would be grateful).

Other than that, I might be able to answer some questions, but I thought you might want to know that your search for the right distro. might not pan out for this board (been there, tried quite a few).. I have a P4SD HP D530, and an Asus P4SD-LA (same board, x'cept one has firewire). Both same..

Also, I noticed iDeneb only recognized one of my two virtual Prescott cores (512). The BIOS recognizes the full 1024 HT core....

Oh well - I would have been happy with one core and a consistent method of doing this. I really am looking for some other equipment though (maybe something easier and more consistent??)

Maybe someone can help me(us) get this right? I did recent;y come across the Kalyway Boot prep disk. (I have a strong hunch my numerous failures were due to improper boot prep). Let you know if it works (slow download...)

I always get the USB over-current notice, but am not worried, since it worked okay in Kalyway and Jas and still gave that error sometimes.
