Default Migrate Apps and Settings from a MacBook Drive to Hackint0sh

I've looked at all the Migration Assistant posts, but I'm not clear if people are trying to migrate settings or if that's just a step to skip that people are getting tripped up on during install.

Either way, I'd like to know if it's possible to use Migration Assistant or something else to import user data and old apps from another drive that was used in a MacBook?

At first I wanted to see if the drive could be partially cloned, but I figured that was definitely not an option.

Anyone have any useful tips in this area?

I'll assume this is either pretty straightforward, or too complex for anyone to share. Hopefully the prior?

Uhm if its just a normal back up and doesn't need any big driver updates i gues its fine if you do it with the normal assistant.

You make that sound like if I am using the migration assistant it would overwrite existing installed drivers that weren't on the old mac from which I'm transferring settings.

    Confirmed or busted?
