Question Leopard on HP Mini 5101

Sorry if this has been asked before, or if my question seems stupid... I'll admit I'm a noob to hackintosh. Does anyone know if leopard can be installed on the new HP Mini 5101?

I'm wondering this, too, because it looks very promising. Graphics are Intel GMA 950 which are compatible. I don't know anything about the Bluetooth or Ethernet (and don't really care because I don't use them), but I'd like to think the Broadcom WiFi is compatible since Broadcom is used in HP's other mini netbooks and there's a driver for it. However, those are 802.11g cards and this Broadcom card has 802.11n. For $25 more HP offers an upgrade option to an Intel card. I'm not sure why it's $25 more and why it's even an option if it does exactly the same thing as the Broadcom card but what I'm trying to figure out right now is which cards are compatible. The problem is I can't find model numbers for either.

I think there's a very likely possibility the 5101 will be capable of a near-perfect installation of OSx86, and I think it's going to depend on that WiFi card. But I don't know anything for sure, I'm just really hopeful . If anyone does please post!

    I have an update!

The Intel PRO wireless card is either a 5300, 5100, 4965 or 3945. There are OSx86 drivers (albeit not necessarily finished ones) for the 4965 and the 3945. The Ethernet NIC card is a Marvel Yukon card. I don't know if it's the same card used in some Macs but if it is, no problems there. As for the Broadcom card, it's either a 4321AG 4322AG. Apparently there is a way to get a Broadcom 43xx card to work, so that seems to be the way to go (and it's cheaper, so that's good!).

The sound card is the ADI SoundMAX AD1984A, which appears to be the same card used in the HP Mini Note 2133 and 2140. It looks like people have had some success with audio through the speakers, even with the AppleHDA kext, though the VoodooHDA kext (the one required for sound on the HP Mini 1000 series) is supposedly marginally better (some sound comes through the headphones, but nothing useful).

This looks pretty good, for the most part.

If the 5101 is almost the same as the 1030NR, then it won't be a problem to convert it. I have a stable HP Mini 1030NR running 10.5.7.

The Mini 1000-series utilizes a different sound card, though. While it looks like everything is enough of the same that it should run OS X fine, I'm still a little concerned that sound may be an issue. I haven't been able to find anything about anyone getting this sound card to work properly (only through speakers, not through headphones).

Default Ready to be the guinea pig

I got my Mini 5101 last night. Tried installing Mac OS via a IDeneb 1.5 1.0.5.7 ISO.

First time I didnt select any Kexts, so no audio/wifi/lan/bluetooth
Second time - selected the MINI 1000 option - audio but now no video
Third time - selected the Kext that appeared to match the hardware installed - had bluetooth but not audio/wifi/lan
On the fourth try now. This is my first hackintosh attempt. I own a Macbook Pro so I have never had to install drivers until now. My back ground is 20 years of PC hardware/software troubleshooting (8 years as a job in the field).

If anyone wants to offer help guideance I will be happy to make a write up once all is said and done.

    Try this:

    hpminimac.com

And please do update us on your progress. I've been meaning to purchase one of these, but am hanging back until I see a bit more updates on hackintoshability. (Is that a word? )

I also had success using the Iatkos distros in the past on a gateway pc. Ideneb didn't work for me. IPC worked for everything but wireless. XXX was a total bust. Kalyway worked, but it was an outdated distro.

    Cheers and good luck.
