    Default latitude d610

    I have been trying unsuccessfully to install iDeneb v1.4 10.5.6 for the past few days.

    System Specs:
    dell latitude d610
    Pentium M 1.73 ghz
    (chip supports SSE2, but not SSE3)
    2 gb ddr2 sdram @ 533 mhz
    30 gb hard drive
    Intel 915 GM Graphics
    Sigmatel 9751 audio controller
    Broadcom 57xx NIC
    Dell WLAN 1370 MiniPCI Card

    I first began with iPC 10.5.6 Universal Final version but that was loading the Voodoo Kernel by default and I could not get to the installation GUI at all.
    I switched to iDeneb and managed to get to the install GUI. Formatted the drive using the Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
    Selected Customize installation and did notice that most of my hardware was not on the list. I did the best I could but left most selections blank (I have tried using various selections as I'm on my sixth install attempt).

    The install runs successfully however upon the reboot I get the Apple logo screen and the little circle with a slash.

    Running the -v switch I get the following:

    IOPCCardBridge::start failed

    Any help would be greatly appreciated at this point. Since I cannot afford a MacBook, I really want to setup an OSx86 laptop but I seem to be hitting nothing but walls.

    Default Solution to your problem...

    1. Don't install any video drivers YET
    2. Install a non-vanilla kernel (9.5.0 Voodoo Kernel works well)
    3. Start 'er up again!

    I'm trying the iDeneb 10.5.6 install right now. I keep getting "IOPCCardBridge::start failed" when i boot with -v after the install.

    I've tried a number of combinations of kernels, and removing extensions and adding extensions, and whatnot, nothing seems to be helping. I am also on a Latitude D610.

    I'm trying a fresh install. using the voodoo 9.5.0 kernel right now, we'll see where it goes.

    Any other suggestions?

    Default possible help

    I am new here and I though id help out. I have had similar install problems with my dell latitude d610. I downloaded ideneb_v1.4 osx_86 and it seems to work only after installing the Harddisk as journaled, not journaled and extended.
    I followed the guide located at:

    IPC 10.5.6 install guide on a Dell Latitude D610 - REPOST - InsanelyMac Forum

    Mostly the first post and I was happy to have it boot up and the networking worked. The only problem is that I had to use a usb keyboard and mouse and the trackpad didn't work. Sound worked and the network worked though. I am doing a re-install right now as I am hoping checking the PS2Fix1054 both drivers for mouse and keyboard will make the trackpad work upon bootup.

    I am also going to look for a guide to add the drivers to the distro if possible, before installing the dvd. I have a Intel GMA 915, not 900 but the last try seemed to let me enable Quartz. On another note, here is the install settings I have selected, I hope it helps out:

    x11 install added
    acpi kext selected 1.1mb under alternative essential patch

    tried with AppleGenericPCATA 600kb for chipset, as other was missing
    Chipset --> LegacyAppleIntelPIIXATA

    Wireless -> tried broadcom as Wireless --> Intel --> 3945 was missing

    User Kernel 9.5.0 vodoo < 6.4 MB

    Audio -> AC 97Audio 576kb

    Fix

    > Seatbel Fix 356kb
    > Battery Manager 176kb

    added all applications, all system utilites

    8.27 MB (8,673,350 bytes)

    Hello, I know you may not have anything to do with this anymore, but I just wanted to know if you could share some light on the starting of the setup. Since Apple's Disk Utility has a few options for Erasing or Partitioning your hard drive. What was the Map Scheme selected for the format: GUID PARTITION TABLE or MASTER BOOT RECORD Last question, since you last posted about the issue with the USB: Keyboard and Mouse, have you found the correct kext for this?

    Hello oodles, were you able to get it to work correctly? I have the same model Dell as you do, and I'm having minor display issues. I wanted to know if you managed to get quartz graphics to work with iDeneb v1.6. I have yet to get that part to work. Currently the resolution isn't selectable and isn't allowing none of the cool effects that I've gotten when I used iPC 10.5.6. The only reason I used iDeneb is because it supported 10.5.8 when Apple now requires for iTunes and Quicktime media. I would like to share with you what I've done to get everything else works, I was even able to update.. Perhaps together we could compare steps (notes).
