    Talking Kernal instalation?

    Hey,

I am having some problems with my OS X kernal (the new one) and want to downgrade to the older one. Do i just install it over the existing one, or do i have to reinstall iPC 10.5.6?

I would rather not have to reinstall iPC*10.5.6

Here's what you do. Copy to new kernel to the root of your drive. Name it /mach_kernel.new or something like that. Then when you reboot, when you get to the point where you can enter kernel flags, just type "mach_kernel.new" (without the quotes). This will boot the new kernel, and give you a way to see if it works without panics. If it panics, just reboot into the normal kernel and try a different one. If you find a kernel that works better, just overwrite the old one, i.e, delete /mach_kernel and move the new kernel to /mach_kernel. It's as simple as that.

Note: Voodoo kernels are actually set to boot from /mach_kernel.voodo
