Kalyway and Dell Latitude D630
Hi,
I am a Mac user since 1986 and recently I bought a laptop just to see how good the install of OSX 10.5 works on such a non Apple Computer.
So I bought a Dell Latitude D630 with 2GB of RAM, 120 GB Harddrive and a DVD burner and a Docking station for additional comfort in case it ever works. I downloaded the latest Kalyway DVD from known sources and burned it to a DVD on my Mac.
The DVD boots and asks on which Harddrive I want to install the software and I just press enter. Somehow after about five minutes of working from the DVD I get a kernel panic and the request for rebooting the machine.
Did anyone else install a Kalyway OSX onto a Dell Latitude D630 (successful)?
Are there any tricks or settings in the computer ROM I might need to change to make this work?
Any tricks in the install process itself and maybe using a different Kernel or deactivating hardware for the install process?
Any other options how to get this done?
I am just confused and spend many hours trying to figure out how to get it done but so far nothing useful.
Please help...
Thor

Think problem is your DVD Drive.
Try install using a External USB DVD Drive.

Hi,
same laptop, same problem! (Dell D630 / 2 GB RAM / Dell DVD Burner)
I try install using a External Samsung USB DVD Drive (SE-S184).
Ideneb 10.5.4 stops after IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 0:23
any idea?
best regards,
michael

Do you try use USB DVD Drive?
Some Dell machines are fully incompatibles.
