I'll tell you what the smarter guys here will say...boot with -v and post what it stops on.
I know from a HP laptop install that it would sit there like that for 10 or 15 minutes until it would boot to the desktop sometimes, annoying.
And later found out that with that laptop I had to have a usb keyboard & mouse hooked up, that usually caused the boot process to be much faster...

Well, you are having the problem with your video because you don't have the right kext (driver) for your video card/chipset installed.
There is a couple of different ways to fix this though but first you have to find out what your video card/chipset is.
Once you find that out, you can use KextHelper to install it or use OSx86Tools to install it, either one in my personal opinion will work just fine. Then when you restart you should have the option in the system preferences to set your resolution. It will depend on what resolution your display supports as to what you're going to be able to set it at, whatever Windows option(s) you had should be supported in OSX once you get the right kext (driver) installed.
You can also pop the DVD back into your drive and go back to the customize options and install the correct video Kext there. Make sure you uncheck the actual install of OSX if that distro supports doing so or you'll just install another install of the operating system.
