iPC install help needed!
Please can someone help a noob at this!
I've downloaded the iPC osx86 ppf5 and other than burning the image I don't have a clue how to choose kernels or install kexts.
This is my pc :
Dell inspiron 531
Amd x2 5600+
nforce chipset
2gb ram
500gb sata hdd
Please can someone help me with a step by step guide to installing. I get stuck on the apple logo, the first screen, if I boot with -f -v I get stuck when it's loading the ata drivers, if I don't use any boot options it just hangs on the apple screen.
I'm pretty sure I need to patch the image or something but I've searched around for hours and I'm still really stuck. Any more info u need please let me know. Thanks for reading

Basically you need a patched kernel with this system, use voodoo kernel or speedstep if is there, check the official site to know the basic, btw.. whats your mobo chipset?
HP Pavilion Elite m9250f
Snow Leopard 10.6.6, Asus IPIBL-LB MOD BIOS, Intel Quad Core Q6600, 4GB RAM (800mhz), 2x500GB, nVidia 8600GT (Works), ALC888S (Works), Wireless RT73 (Works), LAN (Works) -

Thanks for the reply, I think it's the nforce4 chipset.
I've looked around for an hour or so, maybe I'm not searching right but I can't find any instructions for using a patched kernel. Can you provide a link ?

it is in the installation screen
select custom (on the left hand side). Once in there, you can select voodoo 9.5.0 kernel under the kernels section. You can also select nforce4 under other sections ...

I don't get that far, depending on what "-" commands I boot with, the furthest I get is with -v -f when it says something like "appleATA 0 devices found", something to do with my SATA HDD no doubt. I am not sure how to get past this point.
If I boot with no options, if freezes on the apple logo.
Are there any other distro's you would recommend or is it easy to sort this out. Remember I have no idea how to patch etc so I need a guide if thats what I need to do.
Thanks again for helping
