Installation hangs on Acer Aspire 5515 Notebook with AMD RS690MC Chipset
I have an Acer Aspire 5515 Notebook with AMD RS690MC Chipset. I am running Vista Home 32bit Edition SP2. I shrank my hard drive through Windows Computer Management Console and then ran "diskpart", as per instructions given here, to give my OSx86 installation a 20gb active partition. I reset the BIOS to boot from the Optiarc DVD-R/W AD-7580S drive. The iPC 10.5.6 Leopard Hackintosh AMD.iso DVD, burned to a Sony DVD-R disk boots fine but the install hangs up with the big grey apple screen. Not that I mind the big grey apple screen but it would be nice if it would go a little further than that. I shut down and restart using the -v boot option to see what's happening. The installation hangs with the following error:
"Waiting on <dict ID='0'><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID='1'>IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID='2'>boot-uuid-media</string></dict>".
I am not really a newbie to all this stuff, so you can be pretty technical in your responses. I really am stumped on this one. I have ploughed through most the forums in hopes of finding someone else who has attempted the install on this hardware platform, but to no avail. I had to use Gpart to delete the OSx86 partition I had created because when I set the OSx86 partition to active and the Leopard install failed, of course Vista wouldn't boot. No problem there I knew what was up with that.
I am running Tiger on my G5. I know, I know, I'm to lazy to update it to Leopard right now because everything is working so well on it and I have to have one machine here that is running smoothly. Any help concerning my query would be deeply appreciated as I would like to try and get the Mac platform running on my Acer notebook.

Reason: add more info
I have an Acer TravelMate5520G with the same specifications (AMD RS690M NorthBridge and ATI SB600 SouthBridge, Turion TL-58 and ATI HD 2400XT Mobility.
I had the same problem as you do and I managed to fix it by downgrading the BIOS to v1.14 (i used an Extensa5420 BIOS because the oldest TM5520G BIOS was 1.16 if you have the same configuration as I do you cand use it with no problems and it's the only fix as far as I'm concerned) the instalation worked smoothly but after installing the OS hangs at the bootscreen (the gray one with the Apple Logo and the spining wheel) I tried to find a solution but no luck so far.
If it works for you please let me know.

Thanks for your reply. I'll give it a try. My 5515 has version 1.00 BIOS. I'll try upgrading it and see what happens.
There is no BIOS available. Extensa5420 Specs are a little different.
Another 5515 here
I'm working on the 5515 as well. I'm hoping the more information we throw at it someone will come up with a solution.
I downloaded iATKOS v7 successfully. md5 checks out. System boots. Keyboard, track pad and display work in the installer.
In the installers verbose mode I get:
CoreRAIDServer not responding
diskarbitrationd unable to probe /dev/****
It is the hard drive controller. iATKOS boots fine and works up until the point you need to select a drive to install on. The hard drive doesn't show up there. Disk Utility shows no drives. System Profiler does list the hard drive.
Tried changing the bios setting from AHCI to Native with no change in result.
Acer Aspire 5515 status
Picked up a USB HD and installed to that from DVD. Installed successfully message comes up and asks me to reboot. Upon reboot I get chameleon 2 where I select which drive to boot. If I select OSX I get a now starting darwin message and another line about starting darwin, then it reboots(loop). I did not see a chance for me to enter a -v or anything. Going to poke around at the drive and see if I can't change something there to get past this problem before starting over again.
I've got access to make changes to this drive from other computers running Leopard, XP Pro, Vista Home Basic and several flavors of Linux should anyone have some suggestions.
acer aspire 5515 working with issues
(iATKOS v7) Got it working on the external USB drive with issues. I can see the internal drives after install. Sound works horribly on first boot, but on subsequent boots the sound is fine.
Experience a kernel panic when:
Mounting a dmg
Opening the sound panel
Directions so far are; leave everything at default except:
Kernel > install Voodoo and the update
VGA > ATI
PS/2 > install
IDE > ATI
Network Wired > install all Realtek
Network Wireless > install broadcom
It is not fully tested and I'm still working on getting some things to work. Here is a list of what works:
Trackpad - including scroll
What doesn't work:
Wireless - Atheros ar5007
I've read other places that the wireless can work, but it is difficult. System would probably be more stable if I didn't load the broadcom drivers.
I hope this helps someone. I will post back with directions, if I get it working better.
Any updates? I'm waiting here on pins and needles. :>
ive got a 5515 and i have the following working:
viewing internal drives,
wireless networking(bought a usb to wifi adapter on amazon for like 17 bucks)
and i guess thats it,
o and btw, i used iDeneb 10.5.5 for my install, worked great
