Default Install Failed. The installer could not install some files in "/Volumes/Leopard".

    Hey guys

Posted this over on InsanelyMac and got no responses in the last week which really sucks...there really is no help over there...hopefully here is a lot better!

Trying to install Zephyroth's 10.5.2 (Leopard-10.5.2-AMD-EFI-Rev2)—get the error "Install Failed. The installer could not install some files in "/Volumes/Leopard"."

    Specs:

    • AMD 4600+ (s939)
    • Asus A8N-SLI SE
    • Asus 8800GTS 320Mb
    • IDE DVD Drive

Installing on an IDE ~36Gb HDD on its own with no other partitions or anything on the disc...it is blank.

    Using the following:

    • Nforce chipset 2/3/4/5 kext
    • Forcedeth
    • Nvidia Geforce 10.4.2 and Ninject 320mb
    • EFI v8 MBR bootloader
    • SSE3 9.2.0 TOH Kernel

Not using any sound drivers—have a Soundblaster so will install later if they even exist.

I burned this disc at 4x so there shouldn't be any problems with it...right? Disk check goes fine.

Any ideas? I'm pretty sure I'm using the right kexts for my application. I've searched around for this problem but it seems that it's a pretty rare thing? I've seen tons of people with pretty much the same stuff as me running the Zephyroth with no problems...meanwhile I can't even get mine installed at all.

Here's the installer log: pastebin - collaborative debugging tool

    Thanks,
    Elliott

Check your DVD files/iso for good integrity first. There may be other problems as well.

How do I go about doing that? The disk check had no problems.

And thanks finally for a first reply!...

Assuming your DVD media/burning process are ok, the error message usually related to:
    1. Files are corrupted in the iso.
    2. Installer is not compatible with the hardware (or in some cases, custom selections are not correct).
    3. The distro release is not compatible.

Clear your partition for a clean reinstall every time. Try the minimal approach, no video/audio/extra/etc until getting into OSX.
Device kexts can always be installed afterward.
You could check those, and for your system, you could also try iPC, Leo4all, etc if it's still no go.

Tried again with no kexts and still had the same problem...always after it figured out how much time the install would take.

Guess Zephyroth isn't for me...although if anyone could analyse the postbin install log that I posted and see what's up I'd appreciate it!
