iDeneb 1.3 "Still waiting for root device"
Hi,
I have been struggling along for days now. I have managed to install iDeneb 1.3 on my PC (Dual Boot with XP Pro).
Specs:
Pentium 4 3GHz with HT, 800FSB
Abit IS7 motherboard
IDE DVD drive
IDE 180GB HDD (XP)
IDE 250GB HDD (OSX)
SATA 320GB HDD (Backups)
3GB Memory
Booting results in the grey screen with eventually a circle with a line through it. Booting with -V shows where it gets stuck - "Still waiting for root device" this seems to be a continuous loop.
I have used the chain0 method to get either OSX or XP to boot from the XP boot screen.
I have set the OSX partition to active.
I have tried rd=disxXsY commands.
Can anyone help?
Much appreciated.
Guy.

Hi Guy_ST
How did you install ideneb?
Did you apply all the driver one by one?

Hi,
I installed it from the DVD image from iso hunt, to a partition on the 2nd IDE drive.
I just selected the nvidia gpu drivers with a view to install others later. If it's chipset drivers i need then where can i find some for the board, its intel based 865 i think.

You have to select all the drivers to match your hardware. For the chipset you better try to install ICHx fixed, even though it supports only ICH7/8/9
Note I'm using ideneb 1.4 with all functions work except sleep, restart, and shutdown which is OK for me

Still been playing around today:
re-installed after trying everything i could find for the "still waiting for root device" but could not fix that.
Installed with the ICHx fix which got me further, but im still not there:
booting with -v shows the error halting at localhost /System/Library/CoreServices/coreservices[54]: dev/fs events filter failed! (bad file descripter)
tried with cpus=1 and got:
mDNSResponder[37]: WARNING; sandbox_init error Could not set Mach lookup policy for service com.apple

Hey i've been lurking around for about a week now, just reading trying to get osx up and running. Well i'm also stuck on the message "waitng for root disk." But it also gives me an error above this line stating security auditing enabled defaulting to full secure. I've tried using -s, -x but it always comes back to the same message while installing. My question is would a recovery partition for xp on the same hard disk give me this error?
