Default I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 and I need a quick tip! Please Help!

    Hi,
I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 on my computer and had a successful install. When I click "about this mac" it tells me i have 10.5.2 installed.... BUT when I look, I dont have the option to make my menu bar transparent, I cant view raw pictures, and so on and so forth.
I am not exactly sure why this is... If you have any ideas, PLEASE let me know. If I get this figured out it would be awesome!! So any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks,

    -David

    Hi there,
It may be related to your video card not working correctly and doesn't have QE/CI supported.

Is there some kind of a driver i need to install? Or is it most likely a hardware issue...?

    Thanks,

    -David

    Hi,
Yes, your hardware needs drivers to work. Go to System Profiler, take a look at your hardware/kext. It should ID all of them. Under video, see if your card is supported and if kext is loaded, hardware accelerated.
You should also post your hardware specs.
    Regards,

I went into system profiler and on the Hardware tab, this is what is listed:
    ____________________________________
    Model Name: Mac Pro
    Model Identifier: MacPro3,1
    Processor Name: Intel Core Solo
    Processor Speed: 1.4 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 1
    L2 Cache: 1 MB
    Memory: 512 MB
    Bus Speed: 400 MHz
    ____________________________________

When I click on the "Graphics/displays" tab, this is what it says:

    ____________________________________
    Display:

    Type: Display
    Bus: PCI
    VRAM (Total): 128 MB
    Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
    Device ID: 0x4c57
    Revision ID: 0x0000
Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded
    Displays:
    Display:
    Resolution: 1024 x 768
    Depth: 32-bit Color
    Core Image: Software
    Main Display: Yes
    Mirror: Off
    Online: Yes
    Quartz Extreme: Not Supported

I am not to savy about this sort of thing, so I don't really know what to make of this...? If this is not the info you were looking for, let me know and I will go and get some more

Thanks SOOOOO Much for the help so far,

    -David

Thank you for the information. So we are correct that your problem is with your video card driver (without it your cpu will have to do the work and therefor slowdown the system and can not run any program required hardware acceleration).
What your specs tell you are that OSX identified your video card make as ATI and device ID is 0x4c57 but can not find any driver (kext) for it and have to use VESA mode (generic video driver), therefor anything with video hardware acceleration will be disable.
So we need to find a driver (kext) and install it. If you could have that ATI model number then it is easier, and we need to do some search for the driver.
Try that first see what you can come up with. Let me know.
    Regards,

    Hi,
First off, I realllllly apreciate you helping me. Thanks sooo much!

Ok, so, I believe that it is an "ATI Radeon 7500". I'm not sure if that is what you are looking for.... But I think it probably is. If not, just let me know, and I will try to figure it out.

    Thanks again!

Yes, I googled and with that device ID it comes up with ATI Radeo 7500 AGP Mobility, but having a little problem locate the driver, keep looking.

    Hi,
I don't have much good news for you. Can't seem to find a kext for that ATI 7500. You could try video injection to see what happens, if that still doesn't work then we need to post for help locating the driver.
Go to kexts.com, under video section, download ATI ATY_init kext, and under tools section, get kext helper b7 (which is a kext installer), then use that to install your kext, and with chameleon v2 rc4 hopefully OSX will pickup your video card. Good luck.
    Regards,
