Reason: Add info
I have the LB version of the motherboard for the HP Pavilion Elite.
I have upgraded to the Q9450 Processor.
I have upgraded to XFX GeForce 9800 GTX+
I am using iAtkos v7
After a fresh install, video works without QC/QE, Ethernet works (KIND OF- Read below), Sound works in videos with no crackle (Quicktime) but games give crackle.
My issue is this. My ethernet works* i use the asterisk because it only works "some" of the time. I noticed that whenever i download from the internet from a website everything is great. I can download a file and it will actually complete no problems, very fast as well. But for some reason, certain applications that open up ports other than standard 80 give me problems. IE - I cannot download from newsgroups. It starts the download then it stops about 3 seconds into the connection, and 100% of communications go down. I cant even open up Safari after it shuts off communications.
Also when i tried running World of Warcraft client, it started downloading the tools for the launcher and gets to 2012 kilobytes then stops. Once it stops, there is NO activity on the ethernet port until i reboot. It actually stops ALL traffic from going ANYWHERE. I tried the fix in http://www.hackint0sh.org/f181/66823-34.htm (first posts ethernet drivers) and it shut everything down COMPLETELY and wont even work after a reboot. Also patching to 10.5.8 did not help. I had to completely start from scratch.
My question is this, have any of you figured out a way to get the ETHERNET NIC card working (onboard) with anything other than web traffic? I do not know why it keeps shutting down communications. If i do not get a reply i will simply try to upgrade to snow leopard and see if that fixes/breaks anything else. The only reason i havent moved to SL is because i want to fix as much as possible before i introduce new causes for problems. Thanks much
UPDATE : Not sure what exactly is happening here, or why it is happening but i own a NETGEAR WGR614 v7 wireless router. After noticing that my ethernet adapter would blink ORANGE on it (10Mbps) instead of GREEN (100Mbps) i tried plugging my pc directly into the CABLE MODEM (Motorola Surfboard) and now i do not have the problems anymore. I am able to download patches on WOW and able to download from newsgroups. Seems odd that my wireless router (being used in WIRED config) would have this issue. I also have a belkin router i will try later once i get everything else up and running.
If your network adapter disconnects randomly try changing out the router
you seem to have the exact model as mine. i was able to fix the sound. go to page 1. where the guide is. DL the kext file and kext helper. install then reboot. then go to the audio device thing. pic a different output. i think its the 2nd one..

been trying to install mac osx with three different disc's iAtkos V7 and ideneb
and ipc osx86. If someone has the same machine can u tell what u used .
Okay, new problem. Now that ive followed the instructions on how to upgrade my BIOS to the new modified version i can no longer get the network working. this is really killing me and im going to go slash my wrists now because im emo like that.
but in all seriousness my "about this mac" now says 1 processor 4 cores. but networking no longer works with iAtkos 5i, v7, or 10.6 universal.
None of the old tricks work, it sees the card (i think) but it gives it a local address, and when given static ip does not communicate still. Any ideas?
I am going to shoot myself in the foot here guys... Quick update with LOTS of information that is pertinent to YOU (the active forum searcher) and im posting from my (now working) hackint0sh 10.5.7 via iAtkos v7 from Binsearch.info (newsgroups).
Installed Leopard on HP Pavilion m9250f with Realtek RTL8168C NIC card. Could not see any received packets coming from my router to my pc via Ethernet cable (non wireless). Thought this issue was because I had recently modified my bios, so i went back to stock recommended m9250f bios on HP's site. Noticed i still had the problem with my NIC card. TURNS OUT!!! I had an OLDER bios originally, that would allow the NIC card to function in 100megabit mode, about 1 out of 5 times rebooting. Why this was happening is a mystery to me, but no matter WHAT problem with your NIC card you are having, follow MY GUIDE to see if your problem is the same as mine! This is super simple, and will NOT require any drivers or kexts/efi strings.
1. Boot into OSX (however you like to Mine is iAtkos v7 with no drivers for nic)
2. Click on the "System Preferences" icon in the bottom task bar next to time machine.
3. Click into NETWORK, and click ADVANCED (near the bottom right).
4. Click over to the ETHERNET tab.
5. Change the fields to the following for ease of use
CONFIGURE : MANUALLY
SPEED : 10baseT/UTP
DUPLEX : full-duplex
MTU : Standard (1500) <default>
6. Click OK to return to previous screen
7. Click APPLY
Your work is now finished and in 5-20 seconds your network card should reset itself, and the light should turn GREEN on the status screen. You are free to close the window now. Open NETWOK UTILITY (GO > UTILITIES > NETWORK UTILITY). You should see that your Link Speed is now 10 Mbit/s and link status should read ACTIVE. Vendor = Realtek and Model should read RTL8168C. If not then you should download the iAtkos v7 image (Go to binsearch search for iAtkos v7 hit enter, look for:
iATKOS v7 [04/90] -
collection size: 3.97 GB, parts available: 10861 / 10861
- 13 par2 files
- 76 rar files
- 1 sfv file
Sensationnl a.b.mac 138d)
That is the image that i used. My options (as i can remember them now sorry) were the basics on the first post, the only thing i may have done differently, is there will be an APIC and an OLD APIC (i believe it was apic or something like that.) You need to choose the OLD one. Do not choose the other one or it wont boot. I have a 8800 GT card, so i chose OLD ENABLERS > NVinject, NVKush (the two were next to eachother) This gave me everything working 100% It even correctly tells me my CPU as a Q9450 (i stole it from another desktop i had) If you have any questions please feel free to ask in this thread. Remember its a Realtek RTL8168C and im using a HP Pavilion m9250f desktop pc. Good luck.
Now that i have everything working on my standard bios, i will now be running Kabyl's bios mod .23 from the first post in this thread. If that is successful i will immediately roll up to 10.6.0 using Universal Snow Leopard image from isohunt.com (torrent) If i can get it working, i will post everything here shortly after. I will NOT be using rebel EFI, or any other products other than what comes on the DVD to try and keep it as basic as possible. See you soon!
installed XP on my 2nd hard drive and disabled 1st drive. installed kabyls 5.23 mod successfully, and rebooted disabling xp drive, and enabling osx 10.5.7 iAtkos v7 drive. Got kernel panic (but is due to changing bios cpu info post install) rather than reinstall 10.5.7 with the new bios (which i already know works) i moved on to the 10.6.0 Universal OSX SL GM432 image floating around at isohunt. REMEMBER REMEMBER REMEMBER to do this step or you're going to have NO LUCK!!!
After setting your drive up and formatting it MAKE SURE open up terminal AFTERWARDS and type this
sh MakeDSDT YOURDRIVEHERE
(replace YOURDRIVEHERE with the name of your volume, mine was named OSX)
(You set the volume name when you are in the Disk Utility)
If you do NOT do this, your install will look like it worked but when you reboot it will hang and not panic. The message will be "dsmos: this software(dsmos.kext) is freeware, if you have bought it, report at netkas.org" this means you didnt read the first page of the install instructions included with the GM432 disc. You need to do the MakeDSDT DRIVENAMEHERE. Do like me and name the drive OSX. Its what the cool kids do :iguess:
Using the 10Mbit Full-Duplex fix i posted a few mintues ago, i now have Snow Leopard up and running 10.6.0 with NIC working. Video is not recognized, and neither is the processor, although the processor does say 1 Processor 4 Cores. And it is clocked at 2.67 (Q9450). So now that ive migrated over to Snow Leopard i am going to move on over to their side of the forums, and get to work on the Video / Sound and ill be set.
