icchansan,
I have the exact same setup as you, would it be possible to have more than 4 GB of RAM, as in, would the computer be able to utilize it? And any idea how to go about doing this if it would work?
thanks so much!
Yeah, you can upgrade your RAM without problem, actually some ppl have issues with 4GB, upgrade and report back![]()

Man I am sooo excited. This is sth really worth update, I just got the sound working perfectly using a AppleHDA patched by Taruga. Can't find the source but I obtained the driver in this thread.
ALC888 on GA-EP43-DS3L - Works nearly best but... - InsanelyMac Forum
A direct link to the driver here

Previously I have tried the patched Apple HDA and enabler (installed using kext helper into the extensions folder) you provided for the 10.5.6. For 10.5.8 somehow it did work for me. So I had to use VoodooHDA, but there is no digital sound. And on 10.5.7 the sound was distorted after a wakeup from sleep mode.
Now I removed the VoodooHDA, installed this patched AppleHDA and enabler (into the extension folder, haven't tried the Extra folder yet but not a big deal to me). Now the built-in SPDIF (shown as digital output) is working!!! I can tell you the digital sounds much better and clearer compared to the analog output, through my receiver (maybe it's my receiver?). Now I don't have to invest for another sound card, as the builtin ALC888S had worked so well under my vista, and now it's a keeper...
Anyway, I am not sure whether this patched applehda would work well for 10.5.7 or before, but works for the latest so it's good!
Now I am getting the sleep back (hopefully)...Cheers!
Hi icchansan and thank you very much for your tutorial.
I've installed as indicated, everything is working except the integrated firewire port of my ipibl-lb motherboard. I have bought a separate PCI card but I can't have it to work either. Maybe a missing kext ? Could you please explain me how I could get this firewire to work ?
Thanks !
Remove the AppleHPet.kext and install this one:
Here is the oldHPET fix from that 10.5.7 Repair kit -> http://filefactory.com/file/ag1cc0b/n/oldHPET_pkg_zip
This worked for me on 10.5.7 and again on 10.5.8...Thanks to ouija.
cheers![]()

First of all, thanks icchansan for the awesome guide. I have a HP M8430F and I successfully installed Leopard 10.5.6 through boot 132 yesterday (had to mod bios). However, some weird problems came up, as a newbie, I am not sure what to do with them and due to work/study, I have not yet finished reading this whole thread so I hope someone can answer my questions here and very sorry if the questions have been asked over and over again
1) When Leopard restarted for the first time after installation, internet worked!! However, after I restarted, it stopped working... I am not sure if I need to install something to fix it or if there's another solution. I believe I have the Realtek RTL8168C/8111C Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet.
2) Audio never workedIt's the ALC888s. I installed the kext you provided through kext helper but still no luck. I even tried installing skippyretard's ALC888Audio.pkg from insanelymac and still no luck.
3) Chameleon doesn't work for me. I downloaded the OSX86 tools and tried to install from there but all I got was the ... screen at bootup. After that, I tried the Chameleon 2.0 installer but after I picked the Leopard drive at bootup, the whole thing freezes at the spinning apple logo.
I hope someone here can helpThanks in advance.
hey there, you can find your LAN kexts with google or take it from some distro.
For some reason some HP desktops have issues with Wifi, try booting in force mode and report back.
for audio check forrestsun post or try fresh installation, delete APPLEHDA, ALCinject and HDAenabler from the extensions and install again.
about your bootloader, try checking chamaleon forum or ask to nawcom for help on irc.osx86.hu #hackint0sh, I have no much experience with retail, here a couple members did it, check older post or check my blog on insanelymac, there some comments there some tips there for retail and even a couple files for your extra folder
btw what osx version are you installing?

If you are on the same motherboard as OP, this LAN driver shall work at least for the retail install. Official driver
Realtek
For Audio try this
1.6.2a37.zip
For Wireless try this

Are you sure you have the correct kext in the Extra folder of your chameleon install? As far as I know, the default disable.kext from chameleon install won't work; you have to boot with your bootcd and try put correct kext files in before you can bootup your mac install.
