Ive been using my Hackintosh for a while now, but I had to disable the wireless because I was getting Kernell panick at random moments, with any browser, not just Firefox.. I then just wired it to my network and everything works fine. I also cant update to 10.5.6 because I loose my firewire connection and I need that.

Anyone have any idea about these issues?

NICE!!! I stumbled across this post the other day after I *finally* got masosx to successfully install on my Toshiba Satellite A100 laptop, and I thought to myself "Why the hell don't I put this on my desktop at home?" - But then I remembered that I did try when I first bought my HP and read that not all four cores would work under osx so I figured what is the point?

Well, thanks to this thread and those modded bios, I'm now up and running OSX 10.5.5 with Quad-Core power! I did have a few hiccups along the way and thought I'd share them on here.

First off, my system is an HP Pavillion Elite m9180f so the hardware is fairly similar with a few minor differences (like having an Nvidia 8800GT instead and the Realtek R1000 lan card)

So, I just selected the string that corresponded to my graphics card when installing and also chose the Realtek R1000 lan driver and everything was working off the bat for the most part... even the wifi worked without me even installing any drivers for it! (which really surprised me!)

One of the problems I was running into when first installing was that (using iATKOS v5i) when the install went to copy the files to the hard drive after selecting "customize" and picking my additional options, the percentage bar or progress indicator would "freeze" or hang at only like 3% and it seemed like nothing was happening.

I, naturally, thought the worst and figured it might have been a hardware failure with my drive so I actually returned it for another and tried again... and it still froze when trying the installation on the new drive.

So then I thought maybe it was the modded bios I used (I first flashed with 5.17, but then tried 5.23 as this was the actual version number which the computer shipped with) and then I just launched the install once agaom and left the room once it "halted" on the progress indicator (upon further inspection the lights kept blinking away on my DVD drive so I knew it was still copying files and not actually frozen) So I just chalked it up to being a glitch of sorts that the progress bar just wasn't updating.. (unless there was also an issue with firmware 5.17 for me and that the progress bar didn't work as well)

..and after leaving the room for about an hour and letting it do its thing, I came back and saw that MACOSX had installed successfully!

But then I ran into an issue when filling in the "first-run" information the OS asks you after a new install -- The keyboard wasn't working! I am currently setup using a PS2 Keyboard along with a USB mouse, and I knew for certain that I selected the PS2 patch when choosing my installation options, so I knew it had to do with my system itself and not the OSX installation. What I tried was rebooting the computer with my USB mouse unplugged to see if the keyboard would then work when OSX booted up (and it did!) so I just plugged the mouse back in again once it loaded up and finished filling in the "registration" and everything...

But I was still having issues afterwords with my keyboard not working if I booted up the computer with the USB mouse plugged in (which is quite annoying when you have to unplug something every time you power up your computer) so I looked in my BIOS settings to see if maybe there was a setting that would fix this... AND THERE IS! I simply went to Advanced -> PS/2 Mouse -> and selected "enabled" (as it was originally set to "auto-detect") and this allowed the keyboard to finally work properly on startup without having to unplug the usb mouse before I started up. (hope this helps out anyone else experiencing the same issue!)

Then I installed the "SleepIssueFixed" patch (which I have no clue what it is for but just figured what the hell -- anyone wish to let me know what it does? :p I just tried the sleep key on my keyboard and it works perfectly, so regardless I'm happy!)

I also used the same package for my audio card (Realtek ALC888) and it is working great as well (and so are the volume keys on my keyboard!)

And that's pretty much where I am at right now... I am curious if I should install the "9f23 Intel/ATI/Nvidia/OpenGL installer" (found at: NVinstaller.com - Downloads as per the instructions at the top of this thread) but I'm not sure if it is really necessary.... is it? Does it help with the graphics card, or is it only required if you didn't select the proper driver when installing OSX?
UPDATED: So I installed the "9f23installer.pkg" to see what it did (I read somewhere that it enables 'Quartz Extreme' or something? Not sure what that is since I am a MACOSX newb, but whatever, learn as we go!) and of course I had no idea what I was doing and neglected to select the installation of EFIStudio along with it, and when I rebooted my computer the system would hang on the loading screen. GREAT! Time to re-install OSX again (or so I thought) But I managed to login before I gave up on my foolish error by invoking the "safe and verbose mode" when booting (by pressing F8 at the Darwin boot loader and typing in "-x" and "-v") and then when I loaded up in safe mode I reinstalled the 9f23installer.pkg *along with* EFIStudio, and then when EFIStudio loaded I selected my graphics card, clicked "add device" and then "write to com.apple.Boot.plist" -- and voila! Back in action!

Also, is there a step-by-step thread for upgrading iATKOS v5i 10.5.5 to 10.5.6? I actually let the Apple Software Updater run the upgrade and it worked without fail but it stopped my wifi and ps2 keyboard from working and I ended up re-installing 10.5.5. again because of it

I will post more of my results and finding later as the come up.

I just want to thank you all, especially Icchansan for creating this thread, as well as Macnut and Kabyl for their modded bios!

You've made my inner nerd very, very happy!!!

I have successfully installed the wired ethernet driver realtkr1000. I have internet but I'm still missing wireless, audio drivers.

I have the ALC 888s audio (can't find the driver).

And I haven't checked the wireless.

    Any help would be apppreciated.

Alright, I've successfully upgraded to 10.5.6 after using the updater and having to re-install the ps2 kexts (for my keyboard) as well as the audio driver.

I did notice that the Firewire isn't working anymore either, but I'll look into that more when need be -- I'm sure that there is a fix for this out there somewhere (I hope!)

A few things I have noticed since upgrading are that:
    1) Shutdown doesn't appear to work; System hangs and I have to physically hold down the power button to turn off (restart hangs for longer than before upgrade but eventually does restart) And sleep is working fine (although I did install the sleep fix)

    2) Video is a little choppy on playback of divx .avis and even quicktime (hd movie trailers) Is there a way to improve performance? Its not horrible but I'd love to see it improve and have zero lag.

    Thanks!

To get firewire working, backup AppleHPET.kext from the extensiones, delete it, repair permissions and restart, it should work after that.

About the Shut down, I have no idea, google a bit, maybe your system need another fix or something, Im sure others sure may have same issues, so you guys need to check out those issues, if you find an answer post it here for future members,

About your video, everything should work, you dont even post whats your model or specs, video card, etc

Thx for post your experience with your HP Model, everything seems to be hard eh? is really easy in the end, if I was you, I change those PS2 things but anyway...

Uphuck, the one behind iAtkos, recommend this for PS2
PS/2: Driver for PS/2 keyboard/mouse. You will need to modify the Info.plist of ACPIPS2Nub.kext for the update's ACPI version before applying main system update, otherwise your ps2 mouse/keboard will not work. For upgradable systems, I advice you to use x86 ACPI driver instead of this.
You can read more in the official site

    Good luck and enjoy

Icchansan I got the audio working! thank you . I have my wired working, my video working, my usb works out of the box.

The main problem I am having is that I cannot change my resolution to 1024x768 I just get a blue screen. I have tried editing the com.apple.bootlist file manually but that does nothing for me. Do you know of any fixes or tricks.

    once again thanks,

I've been trying to in install iatkosv5i on my HP Pavilion, and every time i try and boot from the
iatkos dvd I get the grey restart screen. I've also included a picture of what happens when I try
    and boot with -v.

Anyone know what the problem is? btw i tried both modded 5.23 and 5.17 BIOS (which worked fine),
and I burned the iatkos dvd twice on 1x to make sure it wasn't a problem with the disc.
