Talking How to instal vanilla Snow Leopard 10.6.7 on Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 i7

This could probably work for other Y560 models too. I don't know but maybe. Try using other settings for "busratio=XX" maybe it helps.

I manged to install a clean vanilla Snow Leopard 10.6.7 using original 10.6.3 restore disk from my other MacBook. I got everything working AND ethernet. Graphics acceleration, QE/CI working, sound working, wifi & bluethoot working etc. (you get the idea )

Here is the link for the drivers & apps I used and the working Ethernet kexts:
    old link removed
    new link
I also used iBoot and MultiBeast (latest version), an 10.6.3 original ISO, 2 USB Memory Drives one of 16GB and a smaller one and for setup preparation in windows TransMac (google it).
iBoot and MultiBeast you can get them from tonymacx86 but you have to register there to download them.

I have the IdeaPad Y560 i7 model which dosen't have Graphic Switching => no Intel & ATI Graphics, only ATI 5730M

    Setup Preparation in Windows:

Installed TransMac and formated the 16GB drive with the 10.6.3 ISO (right click in Transmac on drive - format using image/ISO)
Then i formated the smaller drive with the iBoot ISO also using TransMac.
Because my HDD wasn't formated in GUID partioning type but MBR the setup wouldn't recognize my partiton and allow installing on it.
So i had to use a modified setup. The files are included in the archive I uploaded. I copied them overwriting the ones on the 16GB drive using TransMac (for this you should check the "Show hidden files" option in TransMac)
I downloaded the 10.6.7 Combo Update from Apple and burned it on a DVD.

    Setup:

Restart and boot from the small iBoot USB drive and select from the iBoot menu the 16GB drive.
If it restarts try using busratio=XX flags. For my i7 i used "busratio=17".
Start setup, format partiton, select packages and start installation.
After installation finishes boot using iBoot USB drive.
Run 10.6.7 Combo Update BUT DO, I REPEAT DO NOT restart when it finishes.
Install MultiBeast with the following selected:
    -EasyBeast
    -Drivers & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Graphics -> ATI 1.6.32.12 Drivers
-Customizations -> System Definitions -> MacBook Pro -> MacBookPro 8.1
Run "Kext Helper b7" from archive and install all the kexts included in archive. Pay attention to USB\IOUSBFamily.kext and PS2 folder for they are very important because if you restart you will loose all usb, mouse, trackpad and keyboard functionality if they don't install.

Run "Kext Utility" and wait a few minutes to finish.

Restart and if you don't have any problems .....Voila

I'm trying this right now. To boot in to the installer I had to run it through iBoot with the command "GraphicsEnabler=No" and now it's installing 10.6.3. I'll update this post and let everyone know how it works.

    Thanks vlad.s!

EDIT 1: ETA 30 minutes. It's been that way for about 5 minutes now. It's probably just that I'm using a slow usb drive [Actually microsd card with a usb adapter], but still. It's about 45% done, I'd say.

EDIT 2: ETA 20 minutes now. I also wanted to post that this is my first time attempting to hackintosh and it seems to be going quite well.

EDIT 3: Okay, so OS X is installed, but when I couldn't boot iBoot from USB I just burned it to a CD. It was fine, until I realized that I burned the 10.6.7 update to a DVD and I can't boot to it if I'm booting with the iBoot CD. I'm currently putting the OS X update on a usb drive. Let's see how this goes.

EDIT 3: Running the update straight from the USB drive through iBoot gives me the same memory allocation error, so I tried with "GraphicsEnabler=No" again. This time I got a cpu panic.

    Code:
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x563edd): "Unable to find driver for this platform: \"ACPI\".\n~@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1504.14.12/iokit/Kernel/IOPlatformExpert.cpp:1387

Bleh. I'll try to figure it out tomorrow. For now, anyone have any ideas? Maybe a better way to install iBoot to a USB drive? Heh. >_<

EDIT 4: I'm going to bed at 3am at the latest. ._.
I've found a tutorial that says you don't run the update from the disc, but from inside OS X. I'm booting up in to OS X now and am going to see what happens.

EDIT 5: Gave me an error installing. I'm going to try one more time and if it fails I'm going to bed. ._.
Gah, I have work in the morning.

EDIT 6: Nooooo, the update failed again. Boo. I am le upset. Okay I lied about going to bed if it failed. I'm going to try rebooting since it was the first time I set up os x. *crosses fingers*

EDIT 7: By george, I think I've done it. It passed the "Install time remaining: About 17 minutes" part where it kept failing. It's at 4 minutes left now. I am excited.

EDIT 8: I got excited and opened MultiBeast before the combo install finished. Installer crashed. I really hope it didn't mess something up. I'm going to run the combo install again.... I need to gotobed.jpg

EDIT 9: Ugh. It's stuck at "Preparing Mac OS X Update Combined"
    I want to just cancel, install MultiBeast and the drivers, and reboot. But Idk what happened with the installation. Bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeh. I'm going to restart everything tomorrow. Idk. Ffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...... ;-;

EDIT 10: Didn't go to bed. Got OS X installed and updated to 10.6.7. I have a working keyboard and trackpad, but I can't get wifi to work. I'm going to try reinstalling the kexts and see if it works after that. I'm also going to bed now, for real.

EDIT 11: I couldn't figure it out. I got it on, but without wifi, without video drivers, and I'm not sure what I did. I tried redoing it kind of like this and I got it back to how it was at this stage, but I still didn't have wifi and I couldn't change my resolution. I also tried this to get my video card working properly and it didn't work either. I'm not really sure what to do now. I am going to try again one day when I have a lot of free time, but I can't keep staying up until 5 am to do this. >_<. If anyone figures out how to get everything working, any help getting mine working would be appreciated.

And thanks vlad.s, this is the closest I've gotten to OS X. .

iSecks. I got my y560 working with everything combining vlad.s tutorial with Ati 5730 Full res With QE/CI (have problem not really good) - InsanelyMac Forum

Essentially, you do what vlad.s did but don't use the Drivers & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Graphics -> ATI 1.6.32.12 Drivers

Instead use the ATI kexts in the other writeup. Plus, you need to follow the steps carefully in order to get the display to work right. You need to follow the steps in the link that I posted which also references another writeup. Don't forget to update your boot file with this one as that is what really makes the difference.

I have all ethernet, wifi, display working perfectly.

I hope this works for you. This was my first Hackintosh build and I'm very pleased. It was some work and a lot of research, but well worth it. Better than paying tripple for a macbook pro.

Edit: Oh, you don't have to put your 10.6.7 update on a usb drive. All you have to do is boot from the iBoot CD and when you get prompted with iBoot, eject the iBoot CD and put in your 10.6.7 update DVD and wait for the drive to stop and press F5 and it will show up.

Edit 2: Oh, and without you mentioning using GraphicsEnabler=No I wouldn't have gotten mine to work, so thank you!

Hey LANMind, I don't understand, why don't the ATI 1.6.32.12 drivers work? I followed vlad.s steps and mine works fine, or is there something I am missing? the only things that doesn't work for me is sleep and turbo boost for my i7, it's just stuck at 1.6 instead of going up to 2.8 under load in msr tools, which is a shame. When I connect another monitor to my vga port to extend it, it won't let me use the other monitor's native resolution, so that's messed up, and well, some text lines seem to not be as sharp as they were under windows 7... any help would be greatly appreciated!! thanks

Could you post the order in which you did the steps? Like, where did you stop following this guide and switch to the other guide? And how did you dump your card bios?

I also have an Y560. Is there any chance that you could post a "fool proof", step by step tutorial using iAtkos, iPC or iDeneb how to install MAC OSX on Y560. P.S. I found out about iAtkos, iPC and iDeneb just today. For years I am trying now to install MAC OS on my computers. I managed to do it twice, but audio and video drivers never worked so I removed it every time.

    Thx.

vlad.s' tut does not seem to be working for 10.6.8 anymore regarding res change + QE/CI. LANMind for God's sake, would you PLEASE zip & upload your complete Extra folder, + the folder with the EDID that works for you in ../Display/Overwrites?

I have been spending more than 10 hours on the god damn graphics BS - if you simply had supplied the files that work for you I would already be 5 projects further ....... thanks ..

10.6.8 on lenovo y560 0646-54U. This refers to a friend's Laptop which is journeying with them now. I can't say much more than what I wrote there. Good luck. Apart from that you need to be more specific, too, if you want people to try and help you. What's working, what's not working. Also link to your 06463QU's hardware specs page @ lenovo.com ...
