How to get iDeneb to read Intel QUAD CORE Processor
I just got a Dell XPS 630 in the mail and I installed iDeneb 10.5.5 successfully on my first try with all the correct settings! Sound works, video, etc. The only thing though, is when I go to About This Mac it says Processor is 2.4Ghz Unknown
Does anyone know how to get iDeneb 10.5.5 to read this as a Quad Core processor so it can use the processor to the fullest?
Thank you!

Pretty sure it's just 1 core working and the other 3 aren't.

I've been researching online and still can't figure out how to get iDeneb to read the quad-core. Any ideas on how to get the other 3 cores working?

Man its not like hes not "reading" to really know if your cores are working go to activity monitor in utilities.

If you got all cores working but not the info then try this:
Go to System/Library/CoreServices/Resorces/English.lproj
You will find a file "AppleSystemInfo.string" open it using TextMate and find "UnknownCPUKind" = "Unknown";
replace unknown with the type of your processor for example, Intel® Core™2 Quad. make sure you change only letters only not the special characters like =, " or ;. Save it, it will ask for your permission, enter your password and you are all set, no need to reboot.

Okay, I got the info changed. However, I went to the activity monitor, but how do I tell if all 4 cores are being used?
-
Nevermind.. I went to MORE INFO in About This Mac and it says:
Processor Speed: 2.40Ghz
Total Number of Cores: 1
So it doesn't look like the other 3 are working,... how do I go about fixing this?
Thanks!

You see there in the cpu usage in the activity monitor, 4 cores working, come on, anyway if you say ur using 1 you need to mod your bios or use DSDT

Are you talking about where it says # of threads and it says 4. Is that mean 4 cores are working then? Cause under the More Info under the About This Mac it says 1 core.
I'm sorry, this is my first time every on mac software!! I just want to make sure the processor is working with the quad core properly. Thanks!! PM572
