Should have no problem with that or iDeneb 1.6 10.5.8 for Leopard, and also you could install SL which would be even better. SnowOSX v3.5/3.6 or Hazard and iAtkos should be ok.

    Is the mouse cursor/pointer moving?
    May be video related?
    What video driver was selected?

Your CPU could take those kernels without much trouble, Vanilla, Qoopzs, Legacy, and only select one.
That problem is mostly video driver related. Don't select all of them. For Leopard, the one should work for 8400 GS is ATI ATY_init.kext.

You need to select USB fixed for anything with USB, kb/mouse, etc.
For PS2, there also PS2 driver.
