Exclamation **Help With EP45-UD3P 10.5.8 on DSTD **

Hello, my name is Alexander. I got into a Macintosh-based computers about a year ago. Since then I have increased my knowledge of them dramatically. However I find myself in need of assistance. I will tell you a little bit about my machine.

I have a gigabyte EDP45–UD3P motherboard with 8 GB of RAM. NVIDIA 8800 GTS 320 MB of RAM graphics card running natively with Kext mod. I have 4 80 GB hard drives that are raided together using a guide that I had found online using Chameleon RC3. I believe my bios is version 9, however I’m capable of changing it. Most of the operating system is running natively with few Kext installed. I used the weak sauce guide from 10.5 .5 back in the day and it has worked great ever since.

My issue is that I cannot put my computer to sleep. I have done everything in the motherboard BIOS settings along with any additional things on the Mac. Before the raid, when it was just a single drive I believe I was able to put it to sleep and wake it back up. However the data rate is much faster and is a great asset to the amount of workload that I move around using CSfour and other products. I would really prefer not to go to a single drive again, even if it were a solid-state. I have been trying to install the DSDT to my Chameleon boot loader or somewhere on the Mac. I have been very unsuccessful and afraid to crash it. I do use time machine so everything is backed up.

The last problem is I cannot seem to get this screensaver lock function to work. I have tried all of the obvious answers. Removed the playlist file and reboot it so it would re-create it. Edited the playlist file, and made sure that it had a “1”for the lock section. But nothing seems to work. Sometimes when I reboot the computer it work one in every five reboots. But even now and it has not work for almost 20 reboots. Just the other day I was able to get it to work when I used a program called Mac tuneup. Mac tuneup cleared some of the cache files and among other things. I’m not sure what it did, however it seemed to have fixed the problem for about one day.

I would greatly appreciate any help that I could receive and hope to repay it somehow. I primarily would like to just install the DSDT file and get my sleep mode to work.

I should also say that when I do put my computer to sleep, the power button does not respond when pressed while running OS X. if you click sleep from the drop-down menu in the top left-hand corner, it will turn off it will turn off the monitors and looks like it’s going to sleep, but does not actually gets turned off or turns back on.

    Hi,
You just need to download the patcher and run it on your system.
Sleep is always troublesome on most systems. People have used software to work around.

    What kernel are you using?
System RAM is at 8GB for 10.5.8 in 32 bit mode?

Default Am I supposed to write something here ?

I really appreciate your fast reply, I downloaded that tool but I am afraid to use it. In fear of it messing up something. how do you specify what file that you want to use with the DSDT patcher ? I downloaded the DSDT file that best describe my motherboard and system from this website.

    Downloads - DSDT - GA-EP45-UD3P - Kexts.com

So I guess my question is how to install that if I’m using Chameleon RC3. I may not know entirely what I’m talking about, when I turn on my computer, it comes to a boot loader that says Chameleon RC3 and you can select between the different hard drives to boot from. I have four hard drives raided together as one, I had to place Kext files in the blue OS X. partition of each drive with in the Chameleon folder.

As far as what kernel I’m running, I really don’t believe I used one or its the stock version. I grabbed a retail disc of OSx 10.5 booted from that somehow, an installed OSx to my hard drive. It would boot on its own in safe mode with the –x. command. I just had to install 5 to 7 Kext to get everything to work such as sound, Internet etc.

Once more just wanted to thank you for your fast reply.

    Hi,
You could use that DSDT file, but it's particularly generic for your board.
I still don't quite understand your full reason for using DSDT.

    Hello,

I don't know what DSDT is, or what it will do for me. From what I gathered, I thought DSDT synced your OS and Bois together. I read that it will make the power button respond when pressed and among other things.

I still don't understand how the dsdt patcher dose ? It just has one button thats says " run DSDT patcher " I don't see where you can chose your on file ?

I really just want sleep to work, I was hoping DSDT would fix that.

    Hi,
You could try it to see. I still have doubt that it would take care of the problem as others have had it even with DSDT, and many Leopard systems are without DSDT.

Have you tried installing kext such as SleepEnable or using other methods?
